With the Aeroplan Credit Card Maintain Your Status offer, you can extend your current Aeroplan Elite Status to the end of 2024 through credit card spending.
This targeted promotion runs through to October 31, 2023, which leaves just over a month to fulfill the requirements and enjoy an easy status extension for 2024.
Extend Your Elite Status by Earning 10,000 Aeroplan Points
The Aeroplan Credit Card Maintain Your Status promotion is quite simple: earn 10,000 Aeroplan points from an Aeroplan co-branded credit card by October 31, 2023, and your 2023 Aeroplan Elite Status will be extended until the end of 2024.
We last saw a status extension promotion like this in May 2022, and it’s exciting to see it come around again, even though it’s targeted and doesn’t apply to all members.
Points must be earned from spending on an eligible Aeroplan co-branded credit card. Base earning rates and standard category accelerators count, but welcome bonuses, limited-time category accelerators, and Membership Rewards transfers are excluded.
Furthermore, cash advances, balance transfers, convenience cheques, fees, and interest don’t qualify as eligible purchases for this offer.
Importantly, the points must be posted to your account by October 31, 2023. Therefore, you’ll want to make sure you’ve earned enough points on your next statement that’ll be deposited in your Aeroplan account by the deadline.
As per the offer’s terms and conditions, the offer began on September 1, 2023 at 12:01am Eastern Time, and ends on October 31, 2023 at 11:59pm Eastern Time. Therefore, any eligible points earned on your September and October statements should count towards the total of 10,000 points that you need to earn to extend your status.
It appears that all Aeroplan co-branded credit cards are eligible for the offer, as per language in the terms and conditions.
No enrolment is necessary, and this promotion is available to new and existing Aeroplan cardholders.
Qualifying points will automatically be combined across all of your Aeroplan credit cards.
Status requalification is only available to primary cardholders, but all purchases on the credit card account (including those made by secondary cardholders) will contribute to the cumulative points total for the primary cardholder’s Aeroplan status.
What’s the Best Strategy to Requalify for Status?
If you’ve been targeted for this offer, you’ll want to quickly take stock of where you currently stand, and then make a plan to fulfill the requirements before October 31, 2023.
The terms and conditions state that the promotion is open to new and existing Aeroplan cardholders. Therefore, if you might benefit from a better category earning rate on a different card, you should have time to apply and be approved for a card, and then strategically target your spending with category multipliers.

Indeed, this is another juicy opportunity for anyone who has elevated their status in recent years, either through flying or by non-flying means, to keep rolling it forward. All status levels are eligible for this promotion, from 25K to Super Elite, no matter how you earned that level of status.
For example, if you were gifted 50K status by a Super Elite friend in 2021, and bumped it up to 75K and extended it through 2023 with promotions in 2022, you can now extend your 75K status again to the end of 2024, as long as you’ve been targetted with this offer.
Aeroplan will begin processing these status extensions sometime in November, on a rolling basis. However, they’ve warned that extensions processed towards the end of the year may leave members in limbo for a few weeks in early 2024, as extensions may take up to eight weeks to process.
As long as you’ve met the criteria for the promotion, rest assured that you’ll enjoy your status through to the end of next year.
Aeroplan is rolling out a targeted promotion to select members, which is officially known as the Aeroplan Credit Card Maintain Your Status promotion.
By earning at least 10,000 Aeroplan points on an eligible Aeroplan co-branded credit card between September 1 and October 31, 2023, you can extend your 2023 status through to the end of 2024.
This is a very valuable offer for anyone who has been targeted. If you’ve received an email, make sure you have at least 10,000 Aeroplan points posted to your account by October 31, 2023!
