The Air France/KLM Flying Blue loyalty program is well-known for its monthly rotating series of Promo Rewards, which offer 25–50% discounts on short-haul and long-haul redemptions on Air France and KLM flights.
The program has just released its Promo Rewards for August 2022. Let’s take a look at what opportunities are on offer.
What Are Flying Blue Promo Rewards?
Promo Rewards are a major perk to being a member of Air France/KLM Flying Blue. Promo Rewards are released on a monthly basis and offer 25–50% off in select markets on Air France & KLM flights in various classes of service.
This month’s long-haul Promo Rewards include:
- 25% discount on Air France economy class awards between Europe and Houston
This month, there is only one long-haul Promo Rewards deal to Houston. Note that there are 12 other Promo Rewards for short- and medium-haul travel within Europe.
The lean Promo Rewards this month are slightly disappointing, but hopefully we’ll see some improved long-haul offers after the busy summer travel months are over.
Promo Reward tickets are available for one-way and round-trip flights, allowing for flexibility in your travel plans. Promo Reward discounts are only applicable on the lowest standard award pricing when available, and not on dynamically priced flight segments.
Keep in mind that Flying Blue Promo Rewards come with a booking deadline. You must book the August 2022 Promo Rewards during the month of August; however, the travel window extends all the way through January 31, 2023. This is a more favourable timeline compared to shorter booking windows on Promo Rewards in the past.
It’s important to note that Promo Reward tickets typically cannot be changed, cancelled, or refunded. Air France/KLM Flying Blue previously had a generous COVID-19 change/cancellation policy, but it appears that it is no longer being offered.

If you have access to US credit cards, you can also transfer Amex US MR points, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, and Capital One points to Flying Blue at a 1:1 ratio to pool your Canadian- and US-sourced Flying Blue miles in the same account.
Lastly, when you transfer 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points to Flying Blue, you’ll get a bonus of 5,000 miles on top of the usual 3:1 ratio, for a total of 25,000 Flying Blue miles.
Overall, Flying Blue is a program that is rapidly growing in prominence for Canadian points collectors, especially with their regular Promo Rewards and their upcoming credit card partnership with Brim.
As you decide whether this promotion is a good opportunity for you to meet your travel goals, here’s a look back at Air France/KLM’s past promo rewards:
With rotating 25–50% discounts across its route network, Air France/KLM Flying Blue’s monthly Promo Rewards can be a great way to save miles if you’re planning a trip to, from, or through Europe.
If you’re looking for business class or even higher-end redemptions, you’ll certainly want to keep your eyes peeled for some attractive discounted premium fares as part of Promo Rewards, whether published or unpublished.
And if you’re based in other Canadian cities served by Air France and KLM like Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, or Quebec City, then hopefully it won’t be long until we see some Promo Rewards to your home city in the coming months.
