In the vast majority of cases, you can use your Canadian phone number in place of a US phone number in all dealings with US credit card issuers.
The US and Canada share the same international dialling code (+1) and phone number format (three-digit area code followed by seven-digit phone number). Therefore, when applying for US credit cards, it’s possible to simply use your Canadian phone number.
Personally, I’ve been using my Canadian phone number in all my dealings with financial institutions in the US and have had no issues.
If, for whatever reason, you’re calling a US financial institution and want to avoid being “detected” as calling from a Canadian number, you can always make the call using Skype or Google Voice at no cost, since most of the phone numbers are toll-free anyway.
