Hello Ricky
I see that LIS-GVA-JFK route is available on aeroplan.com
and can’t find direct flight from GVA-JFK.
But when I search on united.com, I can see GVA-JFK route is available as saver awards.
Does that mean aeroplan agents can break the married segments?
A competent agent should be able to make that happen.
The great thing about the game we play is that it is a game. I love it. Aeroplan without a doubt is the best FF plan there is. When people say that Aerplan is no good because they cannot get what they want, I just laugh and try to explain that Aeroplan is a setup by air canada and various credit card companies to get people to buy their tickets and or their credit cards instead of other companies. All you have to do is to figure out the rules and follow them.
Aeroplan’s website is sometimes hard to navigate but easier than most. I get unbelievable value from Aeroplan. When I think of the number of great flights I have received from this hobby and what it would have cost me, it boggles the mind. The killer is that I am not a poor person and could afford each and every flight BUT I am not going to turn down these aspirational and free trips all over the world.
I love following the Prince and all his trips. At my age, some of what he does is out of my comfort zone and I have to admit that I would be very uncomfortable doing some trips. ie the Moscow to Beijing train trip.
Even though this game can be frustrating, and I know the irritations that there are, it is still at this time, one of the best hobbies that there is.
One of the most valuable things, is that everyone is so open to sharing their experiences, both good and bad, with everyone else.
“ Oh gee I made a major mistake, do not do this!! “
What a great group. Thankyou for your expertise.
As Ricky says, if this was an easy game, then everyone would play it and then there would be no game at all and there would be no free champagne.
Frankly, I hope the deals stay the way they are.

Just curious what makes you “very” uncomfortable with the Trans-Siberian rail journey? Western style toilets, WiFi, friendly conductors, some even have tablets to assist translating if there is a language barrier. Granted there is a fair amount of prep work organizing visas beforehand, otherwise a experience I highly recommend.
Hi Jay
Frankly at my age I get uncomfortsble with any trip that takes me away from regular potential medical care. I love the trips that Ricky and other fellows talk about. Believe me, I would love to be 25 again and have no worries about potential medical trials. Even though I have no health worries at this time, when you are 71 you start to be concerned about what could happen. If only I had come across this hobby years ago, I would have gone anywhere.
There is no criticism here, just envy.
On another level, I am very happy that you think that I should go and recommend the trip even for someone of my “ adavanced “ age.
Only recommending because I did the journey not too long ago with someone that is in her mid 70s, and she absolutely enjoyed it. As you say though, regarding potential medical trials, I will admit, didn’t really consider “what if”.
I can only say that I have a great deal of admiration for anyone who undertakes such a trip at that time of life. Maybe I should have second thoughts about my fears!
Hey if I don’t have an ITIN number, but have a Canadian Amex card, could I apply for the American Express platinum USA? I saw you mention about the Wework offer which is really good. I think American Express removed the offer on their site but I think you can still get it through the Wework website. Just wanted to know if its possible to get that card as a Canadian without an ITIN. Also since you been to Wework what your thoughts about it, is it great place to socialize and also get work done for freelancers?
Hi Charles,
Yes, it’s possible to apply for the US based American Express Platinum card. You’d need to do a "Global Transfer" and you can read more about that here: https://princeoftravel.com/blog/getting-us-credit-cards-for-canadians
