Marriott Bonvoy puts on rotating promotions throughout the year, which usually appear quarterly.

Marriott’s second global promotion for 2024 – officially dubbed “Earn 2 Ways on 2-Night Stays” – is now live, and you can earn 2,000 bonus points per eligible two-night stay this fall, plus an additional 2,000 points for each eligible two-night stay at an MGM Collection property.

Furthermore, there’s a concurrent promotion for eligible Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cardholders, who can earn an additional 2,000 bonus points per eligible two-night stay.

Marriott Bonvoy Global Promotion: Earn 2 Ways on 2-Night Stays

Marriott’s second global promotion for 2024 is now live, and this time around, you can earn bonus Marriott Bonvoy points on paid stays in the fall months.

For each eligible paid two-night stay between September 10 and November 26, 2024, you’ll earn a fixed amount of 2,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points. Plus, if you stay at an MGM Collection property, you’ll earn an additional 2,000 bonus points per two-night stay.

You must register by November 12, 2024 prior to the first qualifying night to be eligible for the promotion, even if your booking was made before the promotion was announced.

You’ll need to be on a qualifying rate to be eligible for this promotion, which is defined as any paid rate, including Marriott STARS or Luminous. Unfortunately, bookings made with points, Cash + Points, or Free Night Awards aren’t eligible for this promotion.

Almost any hotel under the Marriott umbrella qualifies for this promotion, including Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy this time around. Bookings at BVLGARI, The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Marriott Executive Apartments, and owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, The St. Regis Residence Club, and The Luxury Collection Residence Club aren’t eligible under this promotion.

The fine print states that bonus points earned through the promotion will be posted within 10 business days of checkout.

Earn bonus Marriott Bonvoy points per eligible two-night stay with the Fall 2024 promotion

Furthermore, if you have an eligible Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit card issued prior to August 16, 2024 in Canada, China, India, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, United Kingdom, United States, United Arab Emirates, or Qatar, you’ll earn an additional 2,000 points on paid two-night stays between September 10 and November 26, 2024.

Importantly, registration is required to earn the bonus points as an eligible cardholder, and the offer should appear under the “Promotions” tab on your Marriott Bonvoy account dashboard.

We’d value each increment of 2,000 Bonvoy points at $16 (CAD), using our valuation of Marriott Bonvoy points at 0.8 cents per point (CAD). At most, you’d earn 6,000 points per eligible two-night stay, which we’d value at $48 (CAD).

With a fixed amount of points up for grabs, you stand to gain more from cheaper stays than you do from more expensive stays, as we’ll examine further below.

There’s certainly no harm in registering for this promotion, although it’s not worth going out of your way to book extra stays to earn the bonus points this time.

How to Maximize Marriott’s Global Promotion

With a fixed amount of Bonvoy points available through the promotion, there isn’t much room to get outsized value as there is with other promotions.

You stand to benefit the most if you tend to make shorter two-night stays at less expensive properties. That’s because you’ll get the same 2,000 points per two-night stay if you spend two nights at a property that costs $50 as you would if you spent $1,000 per two nights at a high-end property.

Plus, to maximize this promotion to the fullest, you’d need to book two-night stays at an MGM Collection property in Las Vegas, which would net you (at most) 6,000 bonus points per two-night stay.

You’ll earn the same amount of points at the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton Downtown as you would at The Ritz-Carlton Toronto with this promotion

Keep in mind that the fixed amount of bonus points come in addition to the regular earning rates, broken down as follows:

  • 10 Marriott Bonvoy points per dollar spent at most properties (5 points per dollar spent at Element, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, Protea Hotels, Residence Inn, and TownePlace Suites)
  • Bonus points for holding Marriott Bonvoy Elite Status:
    • 10% bonus for Silver members
    • 25% bonus for Gold members
    • 50% bonus for Platinum members
    • 75% bonus for Titanium and Ambassador members
  • 5 points per dollar spent with a Canadian co-branded Marriott Bonvoy credit card, or
  • 6 points per dollar spent with most US-issued Marriott Bonvoy co-branded credit cards

If you’re a Titanium member with a US-issued credit card, this means that you’d earn up to 23.5 Bonvoy points per dollar spent, which comes in addition to the fixed amount of bonus points with this promotion.

It’s worth noting that there’s a concurrent promotion that you can take advantage of to help offset the cost of some stays.

In Edmonton, there are some great hotel offers available through Edmonton’s Best Hotels.

Through this program, you earn a prepaid credit card when you make a booking through the dedicated booking portals, which can then be used against the cost of your stay.

Unlike booking through other online travel agencies, these bookings are made directly with the hotel, which means that they’re considered eligible rates. Simply contact the hotel once you’ve made your booking and ask them to attach your Bonvoy number, and then make use of the benefits you enjoy through your status.

For stays at higher-end properties, consider booking through Marriott Luminous or Marriott STARS. The bookings are made directly with the hotel, which means that they indeed qualify under this promotion.

You won’t pay more than the best available refundable rate, and you’ll enjoy a suite of extra perks on top of your status benefits, including free breakfast, a property credit (varies by property), priority for room upgrades, and more.

Conclusion

Marriott Bonvoy’s second global promotion for 2024 allows members to earn up 6,000 bonus points per eligible paid two-night stay.

If you’re able to make use of the promotion, it’ll add some extra points to your balance, though you’d need to book stays at MGM Collection hotels to maximize it to the fullest extent.

Registration is required by November 12, 2024, and then you can earn on stays between September 10 and November 26, 2024. Be sure to register and complete your paid stays during the promotional period to enjoy some extra points for your efforts.
