Blue Rewards Shop the Block: Earn Up to 8,000 Bonus Points

Blue Rewards is running its first Shop the Block promotion since the program rebranded from AIR MILES, this time from June 25 to July 8, 2026.
You can earn up to 8,000 Bonus Points by earning points with four or more different brands, plus an extra 800 Bonus Points if you pay with a BMO Blue Rewards co-branded credit card, for a total of 8,800 Bonus Points.
You'll need to opt in before you can participate, so log into your Blue Rewards account through the app or website and register before you start shopping.
Blue Rewards Shop the Block Promotion
Shop the Block is a tiered promotion that rewards you with bonus Blue Rewards points for shopping with different brands across the Blue Rewards network. Here's how the bonuses break down for this round:
- 1,600 Bonus Points when you shop with two different brands
- 4,000 Bonus Points when you shop with three different brands
- 8,000 Bonus Points when you shop with four or more different brands
- Plus 800 Bonus Points when you make a purchase with a BMO Blue Rewards co-branded credit card while completing a qualifying action

As a fixed-value rewards currency, Blue Rewards points are worth roughly 1,500 points = $10 for in-store and eGift card redemptions (all values in CAD). That means:
- 1,600 Bonus Points ≈ $10.67
- 4,000 Bonus Points ≈ $26.67
- 8,000 Bonus Points ≈ $53.33
- 8,800 Bonus Points ≈ $58.67
To participate, you must first opt in by logging into your account on the Blue Rewards website or app. The promotion runs from June 25 to July 8, 2026. The tiers aren't cumulative, so you'll be awarded only the highest tier you reach, and the offer can be used once per member.
This is the same structure as the final AIR MILES editions, just expressed in Blue Rewards points: the top tier rewards you for spreading qualifying actions across four or more brands, with a smaller bonus layered on top for paying with a co-branded card.
What Counts Toward the Bonus?
To qualify, you must earn at least one base point with each brand. Simply making a purchase isn't enough; if you don't hit the minimum needed to earn at least one point, it won't count toward the promotion. Only base points count here, so points from bonus offers don't move you up the tiers.
Each qualifying action must also come from a different brand. With more than 400 partner brands carrying over from AIR MILES, plus new additions like Porter Airlines, Accor hotels, Instacart, Dollarama, and MTY Group restaurants, there are more ways than ever to hit four different brands.

You can complete a qualifying action through any of the following:
- In-store partners
- Blue Rewards Shops (online, excluding online travel stores and Amazon Prime Video)
- Card-linked offers
- Blue Receipts
- Live event tickets
- A travel booking through Blue Rewards (paid in full with a credit card)
- Redeeming points
In-store partners, Blue Rewards Shops, and card-linked offers each count once per unique brand or merchant. The remaining actions – a Blue Receipts offer, live event tickets, a travel booking, or a points redemption – each count once, no matter how many you complete.
One important catch: redeeming points for eGift cards does not count as a qualifying action, even though eGift cards are one of the easiest ways to use Blue Rewards points. If you want a redemption to count as one of your brands, redeem in-store at a participating partner instead.
Many brands also run their own flash or card-linked offers during the promotion that stack on top of the Shop the Block bonus. For example, a recent MR.SUB flash offer awarded 750 bonus points on a $15 in-store purchase made with a linked card.

In-Store and Everyday Partners
In-store partners include Pharmasave, where you earn 16 Blue Points for every $10 spent in-store. You must earn at least one point with an in-store partner for the purchase to count, so a single qualifying transaction is enough to check that brand off your list.

Blue Rewards has also brought on new in-store partners. Dollarama, for instance, now earns 1 point for every $1 spent in-store on a minimum $20 purchase, making it a cheap and easy way to round out one of your four brands.

An easy, affordable way to hit the minimum with in-store partners is by buying featured items. You'll see these promoted through the Blue Rewards app or website, or in-store.
Note that Shell has fully moved to Scene+ as of May 25, 2026, so it no longer counts as a Blue Rewards partner anywhere in Canada. Plan your qualifying brands around partners that are still active in the program.
Earn With Blue Receipts
Blue Receipts is one of the easiest qualifying actions, because you don't have to shop at a partner store at all. Just buy a featured product anywhere, then scan the paper receipt in the Blue Rewards app or website to earn bonus points. There's no need to present your member number at checkout.

Featured products rotate regularly and are usually everyday grocery items, often worth 50 bonus points each. Completing a single Blue Receipts offer counts as one qualifying action toward Shop the Block, and it counts once no matter how many receipts you scan, so it's a quick way to lock in one of your actions on groceries you're buying anyway.
Shop Online Through the Blue Rewards Portal
You can participate in and maximize this promotion entirely from home by shopping online through the Blue Rewards portal. By earning points with four different online brands, you can reach the full 8,000 Bonus Points without setting foot in a store.

The online portal typically lets you earn 16 points for every $20 spent, so you can spread modest orders across four different stores and still clear the top tier. Just make sure you sign in through the portal first, and that each purchase actually earns at least one point. Online travel stores and Amazon Prime Video don't count toward this offer.
It's also worth watching for boosted multipliers during the promotion window. During Amazon Prime Day, for example, eligible categories earned up to 20x the points, which can pad your balance as you work through your brands.

Of course, it's not worth buying things you don't actually need just to chase points. The reward is decent if it lines up with purchases you'd make anyway, but it's not going to move the needle on its own. That said, if you find yourself just one brand short of a higher tier, a small strategic purchase can be worth it to get across the line.
Book Travel Through Blue Rewards
A travel booking is one of the simplest qualifying actions to complete. Blue Rewards Travel is now powered by Expedia Group, with access to flights, hotels, car rentals, and vacation packages, and there's no longer a minimum points threshold to redeem.

For Shop the Block specifically, the booking has to be paid in full with a credit card, and cruises are excluded, in order to count as a qualifying action. If you have a trip coming up anyway, putting it through Blue Rewards Travel is an easy way to check off one of your brands.
Combining With Other Blue Rewards Offers
Beyond the per-brand earning, Blue Rewards regularly runs special bonus offers that you can layer on top of Shop the Block. These often deliver far more points than a single qualifying purchase, so it's worth checking the app or website for active offers before you shop. Keep in mind that only base points count toward the brand tiers, so these bonus points pad your balance rather than serving as a qualifying action on their own.

Using a BMO Blue Rewards Credit Card
You'll earn a one-time 800 Bonus Points when you use a BMO Blue Rewards co-branded credit card while completing your qualifying actions during the promotion. To trigger it, you need to earn at least one point on the card, which takes as little as a $2 purchase on the BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard.
Just note that paying with the card doesn't count as a separate brand on its own. You still need to earn at least one base point at each qualifying partner, so treat the 800 points as a bonus on top of your tier rather than one of your four actions.
Unlike the old BMO AIR MILES cards, which stopped accepting new applicants during the transition, the new Blue Rewards co-branded cards are open to new cardholders. If you hold the BMO Blue Rewards World Elite Mastercard, you'll earn 10 points per $1 spent at participating Blue Rewards partners on top of the promotion bonus. The no-fee BMO Blue Rewards Mastercard earns 5 points per $1 at participating partners.

When Will Bonus Points Post?
Blue Rewards expects the bonus points to post by August 5, 2026, roughly four weeks after the promotion ends.
Conclusion
If you're already shopping at Pharmasave or buying anything through the Blue Rewards online portal, you're likely just one or two brands away from the top tier. The 8,800 Bonus Points won't blow anyone away, but they're essentially free on top of spending you'd do anyway.
If chasing the full bonus would mean going out of your way from your usual spending habits, it's probably not worth the time and effort. But if it lines up with purchases you're already planning to make, it's an easy bit of extra value.
For everyone else: opt in now, plan your four qualifying brands before you start shopping, and make sure each one actually earns at least one point. The promotion runs from June 25 to July 8, 2026.
