Hilton Honors often runs interesting promotions for its members to earn more points and qualifying nights on stays.

The Fall 2024 global promotion – officially called “Power Up Promotion” – is now live, and you can earn a fixed amount of 2,500 points per eligible stay from September 3–December 31, 2024.

Hilton Honors Fall 2024 Promotion: “Power Up Promotion”

Hilton’s Fall 2024 promotion is dubbed the “Power Up Promotion”, and on eligible stays from September 3–December 31, 2024,  you’ll earn 2,500 Hilton Honors points on eligible stays.

You first need to register for the promotion on the Hilton website, and then you’ll earn 2,500 points on all stays during the promotion’s eligibility period.

There’s no limit as to how many points you can earn from stays, and all properties under the Hilton portfolio count.

As long as you’ve registered for the promotion, any stays booked before registration are eligible for the extra points. Your check-out date must fall between September 3 and December 31, 2024 to be eligible for the bonus points.

Fortunately, reward bookings are also eligible for the bonus points this time around, too.

With a fixed amount of points at stake, this promotion isn’t quite as lucrative as other promotions we’ve seen; however, as we’ll explore below, you can pad your Hilton Honors balance with the right credit card and the points earned from this promotion.

How To Maximize the Hilton Honors “Power Up Promotion”

If you have any stays with Hilton over the fall and winter months, you’ll want to make sure you’re maximizing your earnings, especially with the opportunity to earn bonus points on all stays.

With a fixed amount of points at stake, you’ll benefit more from the “Power Up Promotion” for award stays and less expensive cash stays than you would from more expensive cash bookings.

Plus, you can pad your balance further by maximizing your earn with the right credit card and status tiers.

For example, if you book at a Hilton property, for every US dollar you spend that earns base points, you can earn the following:

That works out to up to 34 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent: 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member, 10 points with Hilton Diamond status, and 14 points by paying with an Aspire card. Plus, you’ll get a fixed amount of 2,500 bonus points per stay.

At our current valuation of 0.5 cents per point (USD) or 0.7 cents per point (CAD), you could also view this as a minimum 17% return, which is a pretty great deal. The 2,500 bonus points are worth around $12.50 (USD).

Of course, not everyone has the Aspire Card — even with annual credits, it’s a steep annual fee to swallow when you consider other premium cards on the market.

Alternatively, if you have a Canadian-issued American Express Platinum Card or Business Platinum Card from American Express, and a lower-tier American Express US Hilton credit card, you’ll earn the following:

  • 10 base points per US dollar spent as a Hilton Honors member
  • 2,500 points with the Power Up Promotion promotion
  • 8 bonus points for having Hilton Honors Gold status (which you get as an Amex Platinum cardholder)
  • 12 points for using your Hilton Honors Surpass or Business Card at a co-branded property

A total of 30 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent is equivalent to a 15% return on your stays, and it’s almost the same rate as you’d get with the Aspire Card. Plus, you’ll still get the same 2,500 bonus points from the Power Up Promotion.

With returns of up to 17% or more via this promotion, this is a good opportunity to make a cash booking for an upcoming trip in the fall and winter travel seasons. You can then save the points you’ll earn for a future award redemption or for when the active promotions aren’t as favourable.

Use the points earned from the promotion for an aspirational stay

Saving your points would certainly be a better choice if you’re working towards an aspirational Hilton redemption with a high points cost, especially since Hilton Honors points aren’t as easy to come by as other hotel rewards from a Canadian perspective.

Conclusion

The Hilton Honors Fall 2024 “Power Up Promotion” is now live, valid for stays from September 3–December 31, 2024. For each stay completed during the promotional period, you’ll earn 2,500 points.

There’s no downside to registering for this promotion, so be sure to consider Hilton properties if you have some hotel stays coming up over the fall and winter months to score some extra points.

Just make sure to register for the Power Up Promotion first, and then plan your upcoming stays accordingly to maximize its potential.
