Cathay Pacific Launches Aria Suites on Hong Kong–Vancouver Route

As of June 5, 2025, Cathay Pacific is launching its newest business class product on select flights between Hong Kong and Vancouver. This marks the product’s first launch to a North American destination.

Passengers travelling on the route will enjoy Cathay Pacific’s all-new business class, known as Aria Suites, as well as a new premium economy cabin and a refreshed economy experience.

Once launched, Aria Suites will be available on the following flights operating in either direction on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays:

  • CX888, departing Hong Kong (HKG) 12:45am and arriving in Vancouver (YVR) at 9:25pm the previous day
  • CX865, departing Vancouver (YVR) at 12:30am and arriving in Hong Kong (HKG) at 5:35am the following day

From Hong Kong, the flight is blocked at 11 hours 40 minutes, while the flight to Hong Kong is set to run 14 hours 5 minutes.

Cathay Pacific is continuing to retrofit its fleet of Boeing 777-300ER, which is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.

Prior to this, the airline has been operating Aria Suites on select flights between Hong Kong and Beijing (PEK), London (LHR), and Sydney (SYD).

Booking Cathay Pacific Aria Suites with Miles

As it stands, the only meaningful way to book premium cabins with Cathay Pacific is with its own Asia Miles program.

Historically, other programs like Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan, American Airlines AAdvantage, The British Airways Club, and more, had access to award inventory; however, it’s extremely rare to find Cathay Pacific awards with partner programs these days.

In Canada, Asia Miles is a fairly accessible program through credit card rewards. American Express Membership Rewards points transfer to Asia Miles at a 1:0.75 ratio, while RBC Avion points transfer to Asia Miles at a 1:1 ratio.

Plus, you can earn Asia Miles directly with the Cathay World Elite® Mastercard® – powered by Neo

In April 2025, award pricing between Vancouver and Hong Kong increased from 84,000 Asia Miles to 88,000 Asia Miles. Given how difficult it is to find premium awards on transpacific flights these days, that’s still a fairly competitive price for an ultra-long-haul flight.

If you have some flexibility in your travel dates, award availability on this route shouldn’t be too difficult to come by, including multiple seats.

When searching on the Asia Miles website, be sure to keep an eye on the calendar when you’re selecting dates, as it should be easy to see when there are pockets of availability.

Conclusion

Cathay Pacific is launching its latest business class innovation – Aria Suites – on the Hong Kong–Vancouver route as of June 5, 2025.

Since Cathay Pacific operates multiple flights per day between the two cities, be sure to pay attention to the flight number to ensure you’re getting the best-possible flight experience.

It’s great to see one of Cathay Pacific’s two Canadian destinations be the North American launch city for Aria Suites, and hopefully it expands to Toronto and other cities as the airline’s retrofit continues.
