AIR MILES Card Linked Offers is a sub-feature of the AIR MILES program that lets you earn bonus AIR MILES by linking and using a Canadian-issued Mastercard on purchases with partner merchants.

With no cost to join, this program makes your eligible purchases more rewarding, and it only takes a few steps to set up.

In this article, let’s check out what AIR MILES Card Linked Offers are all about, and how you can start earning extra AIR MILES by using your Mastercard products.

What Are AIR MILES Card Linked Offers?

AIR MILES Card Linked Offers is a feature that lets you earn additional AIR MILES when using a linked Canadian-issued Mastercard product at participating merchants.

Through the free-to-join program, you’ll earn these extra AIR MILES without needing to show or quote your AIR MILES number, as your purchase is automatically tracked through the use of your Canadian-issued Mastercard.

You will, however, need to register your Mastercard products to access the offers, as we’ll detail below.

How to Use AIR MILES Card Linked Offers

To use AIR MILES Card Linked Offers, you’ll need to have an AIR MILES membership number and a Canadian-issued Mastercard. Once you’ve got both of these, you can then link your membership and credit card number on the AIR MILES Card Linked Offers website.

To link your Mastercard products, you must enter your Mastercard number and your AIR MILES Collector number and then click Submit.

You’ll then get a confirmation that your registration is successful, and you can immediately use the card linked offers.

Keep in mind that you must register each Mastercard product individually, including supplementary cards; however, you can register multiple primary and supplementary cards to your account. You can also choose to register your Mastercard products to other peoples’ AIR MILES accounts, like your household members.

Note that if you hold one of the BMO-issued AIR MILES credit cards below, you’re automatically registered for Card Linked Offers, so you can skip the linking step:

To use the default card linked offers, there’s no need to “opt-in” like you would for most AIR MILES offers. The card linked offers are already ready to use through your linked card, and you can check them out on the AIR MILES Card Linked Offers website. New offers are added occasionally, so be sure to check the page regularly.

If you’re purchasing at a brick-and-mortar store, such as Dollarama, all you need to do is to purchase with your linked Mastercard. You won’t be asked for your AIR MILES number.

The same concept applies to online purchases. You can proceed with your purchase as normal and simply use your linked Mastercard. There won’t be a field to fill in your AIR MILES number.

Keep in mind that the number of AIR MILES earned through card linked offers are calculated based on the total amount charged to the card, including taxes and/or fees. Consequently, if you use an additional payment method on the same transaction, only the portion paid with the linked Mastercard will count towards the offer.

How to Maximize AIR MILES Card Linked Offers

There are a few ways to maximize AIR MILES Card Linked Offers, and here are some of them.

BMO AIR MILES Credit Cards

First off, you can use a BMO AIR MILES credit card to maximize your AIR MILES earning. For instance, the BMO AIR MILES®† World Elite®*Mastercard®* earns:

  • 3 AIR MILES®† per $12 (all figures in CAD) spent at participating AIR MILES Reward Partners†
  • 2 AIR MILES®† per $12 spent on eligible purchases at grocery stores, wholesale clubs, and alcohol retailers†
  • 1 AIR MILE®† per $12 spent on all other eligible purchases†

If you use this card with grocery delivery service Instacart, you’ll receive 2 AIR MILES per $12 spent. Combine this earning rate with the Instacart card linked offer, and you’ll earn:

  • 300 AIR MILES for spending $60 twice in 60 days (card linked offer)
  • 20 AIR MILES for spending $120 on groceries through Instacart (based on the regular credit card earning rate)

In total, with this offer, you’ll receive 320 AIR MILES, which can be converted to $33.68 in value, based on the default redemption value of 95 AIR MILES = $10 in value.

AIR MILES Special Offers

Another way to maximize card linked offers is to combine them with special or “Flash” Offers available through the AIR MILES program.

These offers can be spotted on the AIR MILES website or app, and most of the time, you must opt-in to participate.

Among the recurring special offers is AIR MILES’s signature Shop the Block event, which lets you earn bonus AIR MILES when you shop through different means, including through card linked offers.

These limited-time offers can usually be combined with the default card linked offers, allowing you to maximize your earnings on your purchases.

Assigning Mastercard Products to Separate Accounts

Finally, you can maximize AIR MILES Card Linked Offers by assigning your Mastercard primary and supplementary cards to different AIR MILES accounts.

While you can register your primary Mastercard product and all its supplementary cards to a single AIR MILES account, it’s more beneficial if you register the supplementary cards to the AIR MILES account of the supplementary cardholder.

This way, you and your supplementary cardholders can separately take advantage of one-time AIR MILES special offers and Flash Offers.

Just remember that each Mastercard product must be registered for AIR MILES Card Linked Offers, and supplementary cards are counted as separate cards, even though they belong to the same primary account.

Conclusion

AIR MILES Card Linked Offers let you earn extra AIR MILES by simply linking your Canadian-issued Mastercard products with your AIR MILES account. As outlined above, joining this free program entails a few one-time steps and then you’re essentially earning bonus AIR MILES passively.

Combined with other juicy AIR MILES offers, the AIR MILES Card Linked Offers program is certainly worth your time, so be sure to register your Canadian-issued Mastercard products soon if you’re interested.
