Iberia Club: Up to 20% Off Award Flights with Avios

Iberia Club is back with another Avios redemption sale, this time offering up to 20% off the Avios price on award flights to and from Madrid. The booking window is the shortest yet, closing on September 23, 2026, but the travel window is the longest we've seen, running all the way through March 18, 2027.

For Canadians, the headline is that the Toronto (YYZ) non-stop makes the list again, at 15% off in economy and 10% off in business class. The Toronto window is much shorter than it looks, though. The flight is a summer seasonal service that pauses after late October and doesn't return until March 28, 2027, after the promotion's travel window has already closed, so the non-stop discount is only usable for departures through the end of October.

That's also a smaller cut than the 20% Toronto saw in June. The long travel window matters more for connections through the US and Europe than for the non-stop itself.

Iberia has now run three of these sales since June, so if you hold Avios, it's worth learning the rhythm. Avios remain the easiest premium-cabin currency for Canadians to earn outside the Aeroplan ecosystem, and Iberia is where they go furthest across the Atlantic.

How the Promotion Works

Award bookings made through iberia.com or the Iberia Club contact centre qualify, with the discount split into three tiers of 20%, 15%, and 10%. The discount applies to the Avios portion only, so taxes and fees are unchanged.

• Booking window: September 17–23, 2026, inclusive
• Travel window: now through March 18, 2027, excluding December 18, 2026 to January 12, 2027. For the Toronto non-stop, that effectively means departures through late October
• Eligible flights: Iberia, Iberia Express, and Iberia Regional Air Nostrum, one-way or round-trip, to or from Madrid (MAD)
• Excluded: the Madrid–Barcelona Air Shuttle, Vueling, and LEVEL flights

As usual, the offer can't be combined with any other Avios redemption promotion running at the same time. Earning-side promotions, like a transfer bonus or a credit card welcome offer, are still fair game.

Iberia's terms describe the offer as personal and non-transferable to the recipient of the email, though the same "up to 20% off" banner is showing on the public Iberia Club page, so it doesn't appear to be narrowly targeted. If the discounted price doesn't show up when you search while logged in, it may be that your account wasn't included.

The Routes That Matter for Canadians

Most of the discounted city pairs are intra-European or Spanish domestic routes, which are handy once you're already in Madrid. A handful of long-haul routes are directly useful from Canada.

Madrid (MAD)–Toronto (YYZ) is the only city pair with a Canadian gateway, at 15% off in economy and 10% off in business class. One thing to keep in mind is that Iberia runs the route as a summer seasonal service. Searching the schedule, the last October departures are still loaded and pricing at the discounted rate, February returns nothing at all, and the flight reappears on March 28, 2027 at full peak pricing. Since the travel window closes on March 18, 2027, before the route comes back, the discount on the non-stop is only usable for departures between now and late October.

The US East Coast gateways are where the deepest long-haul discounts sit this time:

• New York (JFK), Boston (BOS), and Washington (IAD): 20% off in economy and 10% off in business class. New York is also 10% off in premium economy
• Chicago (ORD): 15% off in economy, and 10% off in business class and premium economy
• Miami (MIA), Dallas (DFW), and Los Angeles (LAX): 15% off in economy
• Orlando (MCO): 15% off in economy and 10% off in business class

Further afield, Iberia remains one of the strongest carriers between Europe and Latin America, and several of those routes are discounted too:

• Buenos Aires (EZE): 20% off in economy, 15% off in premium economy, and 10% off in business class
• São Paulo (GRU): 15% off in premium economy and 10% off in economy
• Lima (LIM), Mexico City (MEX), Montevideo (MVD), Santo Domingo (SDQ), and San Juan (SJU): 15% off in economy, with Mexico City and San Juan also 10% off in business class
• Santiago de Chile (SCL), Bogotá (BOG), Quito (UIO), Rio de Janeiro (GIG), and Panama City (PTY): 10% off in economy, with Panama City also 10% off in business class

On the European side, the 20% tier covers a useful cluster of onward connections in both business class and economy, including London (LHR), Manchester (MAN), Rome (FCO), Milan (LIN / MXP), Venice (VCE), Florence (FLR), Turin (TRN), Casablanca (CMN), and Faro (FAO), along with Spanish cities like Seville (SVQ), Valencia (VLC), Bilbao (BIO), and Granada (GRX). Athens (ATH), Lisbon (LIS), Porto (OPO), Dublin (DUB), Amsterdam (AMS), Vienna (VIE), Prague (PRG), and the Croatian coast sit in the 15% tier.

What This Deal Is Worth

The Toronto non-stop is where the math matters most for our readers. Iberia's off-peak saver price for a one-way Toronto (YYZ)–Madrid (MAD) economy seat is 16,000 Avios, so 15% off brings it to 13,600 Avios, which is exactly what a search for late October returns. That's a saving of 2,400 Avios each way, or 4,800 Avios on a round-trip.

Business class prices at 40,500 Avios off-peak one way, already one of the better lie-flat redemptions across the Atlantic. With 10% off, you're at 36,450 Avios, saving 4,050 Avios each way, or 8,100 Avios round-trip. On peak dates, the same 10% takes business class from 59,000 to 53,100 Avios.

If you can position to the US East Coast, the 20% economy discount on New York (JFK), Boston (BOS), and Washington (IAD) brings the same 16,000-Avios off-peak seat down to 12,800 Avios, matching the Toronto price from June's sale. Chicago (ORD) sits one distance band higher, so 15% off takes economy from 20,000 to 17,000 Avios, and 10% off takes business class from 50,500 to 45,450 Avios.

The redemption stays unusually clean either way. Iberia doesn't add the fuel surcharges that British Airways piles onto its own Avios bookings, so your out-of-pocket cost is limited to government taxes and airport fees, roughly $112 (USD) one way from Toronto in economy.

Compared with Iberia's earlier sales this year, this one trades depth for breadth.

The June sale was the better deal for Toronto on paper, with 20% off in both cabins and a full summer to use it. This one is shallower, and for the Toronto non-stop the useful dates end in late October when the seasonal schedule wraps up. The six-month window that reaches into March is a real upgrade for the US gateways and the European routes, though, and 10% off business class is still 4,050 Avios per direction that you'd otherwise be spending.

How to Earn Avios

With the booking window closing on September 23, this sale is really for people who already hold Avios in an Iberia Club account, or who can move them in instantly. Still, it's a good prompt to get set up for the next one, since Iberia clearly intends to keep running these.

The most direct earning path for Canadians is the RBC® British Airways Visa Infinite^†, the only Canadian credit card that earns Avios directly. Its current welcome bonus of 50,000 Avios covers a round-trip Toronto–Madrid economy seat at the sale price with plenty to spare.

Beyond that card, the other Canadian earning paths are:

• American Express Membership Rewards to British Airways Club at 1:1, with occasional transfer bonuses of up to 30%. Transfers take one to two business days, so points moved today may land after the booking window closes
• RBC Avion to British Airways Club at 1:1, typically posting the next business day. The 30% bonus that ran through June isn't currently active
• Marriott Bonvoy to Iberia Club or British Airways Club at 3:1, with a 5,000-point bonus for every 60,000 transferred

Once Avios sit in any one program (Iberia Club, British Airways Club, Aer Lingus AerClub, Finnair Plus, or Qatar Airways Privilege Club), they can be moved between accounts with the Avios Combine feature. The wrinkle with Iberia specifically is that your Iberia Club account needs to be at least 90 days old before Avios can move in or out, so a brand-new account won't help you for this sale.

If your Iberia Club account is already seasoned, a transfer from British Airways Club is instant, which makes Avios Combine the one earning-side move that can still beat the September 23 deadline. Just be aware that British Airways holds recently credited Avios for roughly a week before they can move on, so points that only just arrived from Amex or RBC may be stuck for now.

Conclusion

Anyone already holding Avios in Iberia Club with a Spain trip pencilled in between now and March should find this an easy yes, particularly for a business class seat on the Toronto non-stop at 36,450 Avios on a departure before the end of October.

If your Avios are parked in British Airways Club and your Iberia account is more than 90 days old, you have until September 23 to combine them over and book. Everything else, from Amex transfers to a new card application, is a play for the next sale rather than this one.

My honest take is that this round is more interesting for the travel window than the discount, at least if you're willing to route through the US or start in Europe. A 15% and 10% cut won't change anyone's plans on its own, but six months of eligible dates, including shoulder-season dates that tend to price off-peak, gives you far more room to find the seat you want. For the Toronto non-stop, treat it as an October deal. Iberia has now run three of these sales in four months, so if you miss this one, I'd expect another before long.
