If you’ve been considering a visit to Edmonton, or are local and looking for an excuse for a staycation, then the Edmonton’s Best Hotels promotion may well be a very enticing deal to book throughout 2024.

As a part of the Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels association’s efforts to stimulate local hospitality, the Edmonton’s Best Hotels promotion is once again providing up to $225+ in value to those who book one of 50+ hotels in greater Edmonton through to December 31, 2024.

We first saw this promotion show up back in February 2022, and it has now been extended throughout 2024. It’s a great way to score a cheap hotel, or to earn qualifying nights in pursuit of elite status with hotels.

Edmonton’s Best Hotels: Deals on One-, Two-, or Three-Night Stays

The Edmonton’s Best Hotels “1, 2, 3 Pick Your Rewards Deal” allows you the flexibility to choose which offer best suits your trip, with a three-step process:

  1. Choose the length of your stay, with the option of one-night, two-night, or three-night rewards.
  2. Choose your preferred reward for your selected length of stay.
  3. Book your hotel via the Edmonton’s Best Hotels website.

One Night Rewards

The one-night reward packages have a $50 value when booking a single night’s stay, and you can select from the following gift cards:

  • One Night Reward 1: $50 Gas Card
  • One Night Reward 2: $50 Prepaid Mastercard
  • One Night Reward 3: $50 Ultimate Dining Card

Among the three options, the $50 Prepaid Mastercard will of course provide the most flexibility, as you can use it for gas or dining if you wish but could also spend it on anything else — including your hotel bill to get $50 off your one-night stay.

Two Night Rewards

The Two Night Rewards packages for booking a two-night stay at eligible hotels carry a $150 reward value.

  • Two Night Reward 1: $150 Prepaid Mastercard
  • Two Night Reward 2: $75 Prepaid Mastercard + $75 Gas Card
  • Two Night Reward 3: $75 Gas Card + $75 Ultimate Dining Card

Again, the $150 Prepaid Mastercard is the most optimal gift card choice compared to the other gift card combinations, as it provides the most flexibility.

Three Night Rewards

The three-night reward packages offer the greatest return, with up to $225 in reward value. Booking a three-night stay offers the choice of the following rewards:

  • Three Night Reward 1: $225 Prepaid Mastercard
  • Three Night Reward 2: $75 Ultimate Dining Card + $75 Prepaid Mastercard + $75 Gas Card

As with the one- and two-night rewards, the $225 Prepaid Mastercard is the best when looking for overall flexibility, or a direct way to offset against the cost of your Edmonton hotel stay.

It’s worth noting that there aren’t currently any blackout dates for this offer; however, some may be imposed in the future. Be sure to check the terms and conditions for the deal before making a booking.

However, this also means that the entire year is fair game, and it could very well be worth your while to plan a few trips to Edmonton in 2024 to score some great deals on hotels.

Note that there must be at least three days between bookings to qualify for the offer more than once. Otherwise, there’s no limit as to how many times you can take advantage of this promotion.

Gift Card Usage

All rewards offered by Edmonton’s Best Hotels are distributed via email within 24 hours after checking in to your hotel. You’ll typically receive your reward the morning after you check-in, although it could take up to 24 hours.

This means that you’ll certainly have the option to apply the gift card towards your hotel bill upon check-out on a two- or three-night stay, as well as a one-night stay if the timing works out.

To qualify for the selected reward, you must reserve a minimum of 24 hours prior to arrival, and you must book through the Edmonton’s Best Hotels website. Reservations made directly through the hotel or via a third-party website cannot be modified to include the reward.

Does This Promotion Qualify for Hotel Loyalty Programs?

For those who participate in hotel loyalty programs like Marriott Bonvoy or Hilton Honors, an all-important question is whether rewards points and elite night credits can be earned via this promotion, and whether our existing elite benefits will apply.

As with similar promotions such as Stay Vancouver and Visit Richmond, Edmonton’s Best Hotels takes bookings via their portal and then subsequently makes bookings directly at the participating hotels on your behalf.

Once these bookings are complete, you can typically get in touch with the hotel via email and request to add your elite membership number to the file.

The good news? Based on many reports, the Edmonton’s Best Hotels promotion works similarly, so your Edmonton hotel stays indeed qualify for hotel rewards and benefits, too.

Maximize This Promotion for Your Trips to Edmonton

There are a few different ways to maximize the Edmonton’s Best Hotels promotion, which should be valuable to Edmonton visitors and staycationers alike.

A Prepaid Mastercard of $225 for a three-night stay can make your trip to Edmonton a lot more affordable, no matter the price and comfort level of your preferred accommodation type.

For example, if you’re looking at the Westin Edmonton, the regular nightly rate currently sits at around $250 after taxes per night, for a total of $748.84 for three nights.

If you’re booking three nights, you can receive a $225 Prepaid Mastercard to go towards your trip. This would reduce the overall cost of your stay to $523.84, or an average of $174.61 per night.

Alternatively, these Edmonton’s Best Hotels deals can be a great way to “mattress-run” your way towards elite status qualification with your preferred hotel program.

For example, a three-night stay at the Four Points by Sheraton Edmonton South can be booked for $395.19 after taxes.

You’d earn a $225 Prepaid Mastercard as a result of this stay, bringing your net cost down to $170.19 for three elite qualifying nights towards Marriott Bonvoy elite status. If you were planning on being in Edmonton anyway, this represents a good opportunity to reach the next status tier threshold for cheap.

Lastly, if you’re a budget-minded traveller who’s keen to explore Edmonton this year, then you can even take full advantage of this promotion for some very affordable stays outright.

For example, post up at the Best Western Cedar Park Inn for three nights at a total of $313.23, get a $225 Prepaid Mastercard, and you’re looking at a nightly accommodation cost of $29.41 – almost unheard of for hotels in a North American city!

Conclusion

The Edmonton’s Best Hotels promotion is an excellent incentive to explore the Greater Edmonton area, with over 50 hotels to choose from and an easy three-step process. The promotion is running for the rest of the year, without any blackout dates at the time of writing.

Reward supplies may be limited, so I’d recommend taking a look at any deals that may interest you sooner rather than later, especially if you’re looking to rack up elite qualifying nights on the cheap in 2024.
