The Tangerine® Rewards World Elite®* Mastercard®* is offering 30,000 Scene+ points upon spending $3,000 in the first three months, worth approximately $300.^* Conditions apply.

The annual fee is $120 for the primary cardholder, plus $30 for each authorized user. Cardholders who hit $30,000 in spend during a cardmember year unlock an additional 10,000 Scene+ points (the Annual Lifestyle Credit), worth approximately $100.^†

There's no cap on the 1.5x bonus categories, so it pays to set your three Accelerator Categories to match your heaviest spending.

We calculate this card's first-year value conservatively at the base 1x earn rate, but realistically you wouldn't carry this card just to earn 1x on everything. If roughly half of a $30,000 annual spend lands in your three bonus categories – a blended rate of about 1.25x – you'd earn around 37,500 Scene+ points (about $375) on spend alone in the first year.

Layered on top of the 30,000-point welcome bonus and the 10,000-point Annual Lifestyle Credit, and after the $120 annual fee, that works out to roughly $655 in realistic first-year value – before counting the four lounge passes.

Scene+ is one of the most flexible fixed-value points programs in Canada. Points are worth approximately 1 cent each, and can be credited towards any travel expense charged to your card up to 12 months after the date of purchase.^†

This is far superior to the fixed-value programs from Canada's other major banks, as most of them force you to book your travel through their in-house travel agencies. With those programs, you're effectively limited to using your points for flights, hotels, car rentals, and vacations at the rates set in the online travel agencies.

On the other hand, with Scene+ points, you can apply your points to things like vacation rentals, plane tickets, train tickets, hotel stays, award booking taxes and fees, and much more. Simply charge the travel expense to your Tangerine® Rewards World Elite®* Mastercard®*, and then redeem points to “offset” the charge.

The best part is that since you can book directly with travel vendors, you'll get the full entitlement to earning elite benefits, and you'll also be covered by the card's insurance coverage (outlined below).^†

Beyond Points for Travel, Scene+ also offers redemptions for Cineplex movies, groceries at Sobeys and other Empire-banner stores, fuel at Shell, and a statement credit option at 1 cent per point.

Your Scene+ points won't expire for as long as you're a cardholder. If you cancel the card, you'll have 60 days to redeem your remaining Scene+ points before they're forfeited.
