Video: Aeroplan Elite Status Guide + How to Earn Status Without Flying

Aeroplan Elite Status succeeded Air Canada Altitude as Air Canada’s elite frequent flyer program in November 2020.

In this video, we’ll go over the qualifying thresholds and elite benefits at each of the Aeroplan Elite Status thresholds, from Aeroplan 25K through Aeroplan Super Elite.

Then, we’ll discuss Aeroplan’s Everyday Status Qualification feature that allows you to earn status without flying – and instead by earning 100,000 Aeroplan points per year through engaging directly with the program.

Without further ado, you can watch the video below:

Thank you Ricky! I am new to all this and I have learnt so much already! I applied to the Amex Aeroplan reserve card and hopefully I can keep the 35K status my son shared with me last year.

Do you think Air Canada will extend status levels again into 2022?

    1. Ricky YVR

I don’t think they’ll do a blanket status extension, but they’ll definitely offer ways to achieve/retain status more easily.

Ricky, would buying an Air Canada Gift card go towards the spending requirements for 25k status?

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes, the current 5x promotion on AC gift cards should count towards points earned under Everyday Status Qualification.

especially with the valentine promo going on at the moment?

« when an individual Aeroplan Member earns 100,000 eligible Aeroplan points between January 1 and December 31, and they do not already hold Aeroplan Elite Status, they will be awarded Aeroplan 25K Status immediately and through the following calendar year ».
What if we already have 25K (extended from last year), can we qualify with this method to extend the status for next year?

    1. Ricky YVR

      Yes, you can.

Thanks Ricky – another great video! Working my way to 25k status with e-store and cc spend. Very hard to see much paid flights for me this year.
