TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Cardholders Are Being Upgraded to Visa Infinite+

TD has started upgrading some TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card holders to Visa Infinite+. Letters are arriving with a replacement card, and the upgrade adds 10 GB of free GigSky global mobile data each year.
TD is the latest Canadian issuer to move into the new tier. Scotiabank moved its Passport and Momentum cards to Visa Infinite+ in April, and Wealthsimple followed with the Wealthsimple Visa Infinite +* Card.
What's Changing
I got one of these letters recently, with the new card enclosed. Based on what it says, the upgrade is a new card in your wallet with one new benefit attached.
- New card: a Visa Infinite+ card replaces your current TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite card
- New benefit: 10 GB of free GigSky global mobile data for 15 days, once per year
- Also new: unlimited access to Travel Essentials by GigSky for navigation, email, and translation apps
- Still included: one free 1 GB GigSky plan for 15 days each year, plus 20% off future GigSky purchases
- Who gets it: both the primary cardholder and additional cardholders
- Not changing: your card number, cardholder agreement, existing benefits, and Air Canada travel benefits
So far, the upgrade only seems to be reaching some cardholders. TD's website still lists the card under its current name, and TD hasn't announced the change publicly.

The GigSky Data Benefit
Combined with the existing 1 GB plan, the upgrade works out to 11 GB of free GigSky data per year, the same setup Scotiabank's Visa Infinite+ cardholders got in April.
GigSky is an eSIM provider with coverage in over 200 countries. For a one- or two-week trip, 10 GB is plenty for maps, messaging, rideshare apps, and casual browsing.

Travel Essentials is the more interesting piece for frequent travellers. It gives you unlimited data for a set list of low-bandwidth apps, such as WhatsApp, iMessage, Google Maps, and Gmail, even when you don't have a data plan running. Video streaming and video calls aren't covered.

TD's letter asks cardholders to enrol before travelling, through GigSky's Visa Canada page or the QR code on the letter. When I checked the GigSky app, the plan showed up as “TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite + Global Data,” and enrolling just means adding your Visa card details.

eSIMs have become very affordable, so if you don't already have a global roaming plan with your provider, 10 GB of free data is worth roughly $20 to $30 (CAD) on a single international trip. Our guide to the best roaming solutions for international travel covers the alternatives.
What Stays the Same
The letter doesn't mention any changes to the annual fee, earn rates, or insurance. The card keeps its Aeroplan perks as well, which are due for their own update when Canadian Aeroplan cards get new benefits on January 12, 2027.

Conclusion
If you hold the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card and haven't received a letter yet, it's worth checking the GigSky app before your next trip anyway. The 1 GB plan is already there, and the 10 GB plan should appear once your card is upgraded.
Free data is one of the more useful perks a travel card can add, and getting it without a fee change is a nice bonus. Like Scotiabank's version, this is mostly a new name with one new benefit, so I'd still compare the card on its Aeroplan perks and earn rates rather than the Visa Infinite+ label.
