Porter Airlines Launches Revamped Porter Pass

Porter Airlines has launched a revamped version of its Porter Pass, giving loyal customers the ability to instantly earn VIPorter points and more at the time of purchase.
In an industry-first in North America, Porter Pass (that’s the airline’s flight pass product) will allow pass holders to instantly earn VIPorter qualifying spend and AvidTraveller benefits as soon as they purchase the pass.
Customers Can Enjoy VIPorter Loyalty Benefits Instantly
Porter Airlines has launched a reamped Porter Pass product, offering customers points and status benefits at the time of purchase, rather than after travel has taken place.
Typically, with other pass programs, you only earn points after you use the credits associated with the flight pass.
In announcing the added benefits, Porter says almost every Porter Pass option will earn enough qualifying spend for the customer to become a VIPorter AvidTraveller, allowing them to immediately enjoy the perks of the loyalty program, such as complimentary seat selection and complimentary checked baggage.
Porter Pass holders can now instantly earn VIPorter qualifying spend and AvidTraveller benefits on all flights included in their pass at the time of purchase. In other words, as soon as you book, you’ll earn the points.

The standard practice across Canadian and US pass programs is to count the loyalty qualifying spend after travel has been completed, which usually doesn’t allow passengers to maximize the benefits they’ve already paid for until nearly their flights have taken place.
Senior VP and Chief Commercial Officer of Porter Airlines, Edmond Eldebs, had this to say about the development:
With Porter Pass, frequent travellers now earn loyalty status instantly and have access to valuable benefits from their first flight. This industry-leading benefit is just another way we are respecting economy travellers and providing the elevated level of service they deserve.
What Is Porter Pass?
Porter Pass offers frequent travellers a simple way to purchase 10 to 100 flight credits at a preset price for use on designated routes or across Porter’s full network within one year.
The program recently expanded to reflect the airline’s growing North American network, with new options making it simpler to customize, plan, and enjoy economy air travel.

All of the destinations included in the Porter Pass are listed on the airline’s website.
Another benefit to the Porter Pass program is the fact it has no blackout dates and offers three fare categories to choose from. Porter Pass prices include all taxes, fees, charges, and surcharges.

Kudos to Porter Airlines for rewarding loyal customers in an innovative way that provides more travel perks. Could a co-branded credit card be next?
The answer to this is yes! The airline has publicly confirmed that a co-branded credit is currently in the works, but they’ve yet to reveal a timeline on its launch.
In the meantime, if you’re looking to purchase Porter Passes, we’d recommend doing so with a credit card that has a good earning rate in the travel category, like the American Express Gold Rewards Card or the American Express Platinum Card, both of which earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on travel.
