MBNA has just put out a targeted offer for select cardholders of the MBNA Rewards World Elite® Mastercard®, which is of particular interest to anyone who shops at Costco.

MBNA Rewards World Elite® Mastercard®: 5x Points at Wholesale Clubs†
MBNA has just rolled out a limited-time targeted offer for select holders of the MBNA Rewards World Elite® Mastercard®.
Between October 16 and November 26, 2023, you can earn 5x MBNA Rewards points on up to $3,000 (all figures in CAD) of eligible purchases at wholesale clubs,† including Costco.
Aside from this offer, you typically earn the card’s baseline rate of 1 MBNA Rewards point per dollar spent at wholesale clubs,† as is the norm with most other Canadian credit cards.
You’ll first need to register for the offer by clicking “Enroll Now” in the email that was sent out to cardholders. After that, you have until November 26, 2023 to spend up to $3,000 at wholesale clubs† and earn 5x MBNA Rewards points in the process.†
If you were to max out this offer, you’d earn a total of 15,000 MBNA Rewards points,† which is equivalent to $150 worth of travel booked through the MBNA Rewards portal,† or less if redeemed for gift cards, merchandise, or a statement credit.†
As per the offer’s terms and conditions, purchases that earn 5 MBNA Rewards points per dollar spent† must be at a merchant whose Merchant Category Code (MCC) is 5300.†
The offer was sent out to eligible cardholders by email, and if you haven’t received an email from MBNA about the promotion, you aren’t eligible for the offer.
It’s worth noting that the 5x bonus points are in place of, and not in addition to, the base earning rate for the card.† Once you’ve spent $3,000 at wholesale clubs, your earning rate will drop down to the card’s baseline earning rate of 1 MBNA Rewards point per dollar spent.†

As a reminder, the current welcome offer for the MBNA Rewards World Elite® Mastercard® is for up to 30,000 MBNA Rewards points,† broken down as follows:

Furthermore, earlier this year, MBNA discontinued its co-branded Alaska Airlines credit cards, and since then, it has no longer been possible to directly earn Alaska miles in Canada.
However, the bank has also been teasing that at some point in the next year, MBNA Rewards points will become transferable to Alaska miles at a 1:1 ratio. We’re waiting for confirmation on the date that this will come into effect.
Once it goes live, MBNA Rewards will become Canada’s newest transferable points currency, and the most meaningful way to access Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan in Canada.
