Hyatt Amex Offer: Spend $500, Get $100 at Canadian Hotels

A new Amex Offer has appeared on Canadian American Express cards, which is a great opportunity to save on Hyatt stays this spring. If you register for the offer, you’ll earn a $100 (CAD) statement credit upon spending $500 (CAD) at Hyatt hotels in Canada, through May 28, 2023.

With the concurrent Hyatt Amex US Offer for stays at Canadian hotels and a soon-to-expire Oxford Properties Amex Offer, you can extend the savings even further. This can also help you work towards renewing or qualifying for Hyatt Globalist status at a discount.

Hyatt Hotels in Canada: Spend $500, Get $100

With this offer, you’ll earn a one-time $100 (CAD) statement credit upon spending $500 (CAD) after taxes at participating Hyatt hotels. The promotion is limited to Canadian properties, and the purchases must be charged in Canadian dollars.

Hyatt has a decent selection of hotels nationwide, with 19 properties in total. Most are concentrated in major city centres, along with a few properties in British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley and others in smaller cities, such as Prince George.

The offer works on cumulative purchases that total $500 (CAD) or more, so there’s no requirement to meet the $500 (CAD) threshold in a single purchase.

The offer is valid for stays until May 28, 2023. There’s a registration cap of the first 30,000 cardholders, so it’s best to register as soon as possible to secure your eligibility.

We’ve seen this offer popping up across a wide range of Canadian American Express cards, including the American Express Aeroplan Reserve Card, American Express Platinum Card, and the American Express Cobalt Card. If you’re playing the game in two-player mode or more, be sure to check each individual’s cards to see whether the offer is available and register accordingly.

Save 20% on Hyatt Hotel Stays This Spring

This offer can be an easy way to save money if you have any Hyatt hotel stays planned between now and May, especially if you’re using your spring travels to renew your Globalist status for next year.

By making a purchase of exactly $500 (CAD), you’d effectively unlock a 20% discount on your purchase with the $100 (CAD) statement credit.

Since the statement credit will be applied on the Amex side, you can combine it with other ongoing property-specific deals or money-saving tactics. Keep in mind that there is also a concurrent Hyatt Amex US Offer, which gives you a $100 (USD) statement credit after spending $500 (USD) at Canadian hotels.

To put another Amex Offer towards good use on the same Hyatt stay, remember that you can redeem discounted Oxford Properties gift cards at the Park Hyatt Toronto. However, note that you can pay for your stay using an existing gift card and your credit card with the Hyatt Amex Offer on it – but not simultaneously.

Therefore, the best approach would be to use the Hyatt Amex Offer to pay for a $500 (CAD) chunk of the hotel bill first, since it’s a limited-time deal, before using up your Oxford Properties gift card, which has no expiry date.

Keep in mind that there is also the “Bonus Journeys” promotion for stays from March 20 to May 26, 2023. Beginning with your second stay, you’ll earn 3,000 World of Hyatt points for every two nights spent at Hyatt hotels worldwide.

Scotiabank American Express Cardholders Can Register Too

As we’ve seen on previous Amex Offers, the offer is also available to primary and supplementary cardholders of the Scotiabank American Express products: the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, Scotiabank American Express Card, and Scotiabank Platinum American Express Card.

The registration portal is accessible via this link.

This provides yet another way for you to maximize your savings under this promotion by registering and using the Amex Offer on both your Amex- and Scotiabank-issued Amex credit cards.

If you have a more expensive Hyatt stay lined up, you could even register multiple primary and supplementary Scotiabank cardholders for the offer and split the bill into $500 (CAD) chunks to maximize the $100 (CAD) statement credit each time.

Elevate Your Stay with Hyatt Privé

If you don’t happen to have Hyatt Globalist status, or even if you do but you’d like to further enhance your stay, be sure to get in touch with us to book your stay through Hyatt Privé, a preferred partner program. By doing so, you’ll receive a suite of additional benefits at no additional cost.

In Canada, your options are relatively limited, and Privé rates are only available at the Park Hyatt Toronto, the Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market, and the Hyatt Regency Calgary. However, if you have an upcoming stay at one of these properties, be sure to get in touch for a quote.

The Hyatt Privé rate is the same as the best available flexible rate, which can be higher than prepaid rates, member rates, corporate rates, or other rates that you may have exclusive access to.

You’ll want to weigh up the savings against what you stand to gain through Hyatt Privé to make sure you’re getting the best deal. In either event, be sure to take advantage of this Amex Offer to score up to 20% off of your stay.

The latest Hyatt Amex Offer allows eligible cardholders to earn a $100 (CAD) statement credit upon spending a minimum of $500 (CAD) on cumulative purchases at Hyatt properties in Canada in Spring 2023.

Not every American Express card is targeted for this offer, so be sure to check all of your cards to see if the promotion shows up. For those with Scotiabank American Express credit cards, be sure to register via the portal link to scale up your savings.

Keep in mind that the registration cap is limited to the first 30,000 cardholders, so it’s best to register as soon as possible, and then plan your Hyatt stays this spring through May 28, 2023.

As far as we can tell, no Canadian Hyatt locations sell gift cards at the front desk.
