AIR MILES has launched its “Redeem Big Event”, through which Collectors can earn up to 35% back in AIR MILES with their redemptions.

Until July 26, 2024, AIR MILES Collectors can get back up to 90 Cash Miles and up to 1,750 Dream Miles through this promotion.

AIR MILES Launches “Redeem Big Event”

AIR MILES has launched a new promotion called the “Redeem Big Event”, which runs from July 19–26, 2024.

Under the promotion, you can get back up to 35% of your redeemed Cash Miles and Dream Miles, as follows:

  • Get 20 AIR MILES when you redeem 95 Cash Miles or 250 AIR MILES when you redeem 1,000 Dream Miles
  • Get 50 AIR MILES when you redeem 190 Cash Miles or 750 AIR MILES when you redeem 2,500 Dream Miles
  • Get 90 AIR MILES when you redeem 285 Cash Miles or 1,750 AIR MILES when you redeem 5,000 Dream Miles

Per the terms and conditions, you’ll get the highest offer tiers for each of the Cash Miles and Dream Miles you’ll redeem. Separate redemptions will be summed up and awarded the corresponding offer tier.

This means you may only receive one offer tier each for Cash Miles and Dream Miles redemptions, and you won’t receive more than one bonus even if you redeem multiple times.

If you intend to max out the promotion, you can redeem 285 Cash Miles or more to get 90 AIR MILES back, and redeem 5,000 Dream Miles to get another 1,750 AIR MILES back.

Given that every 95 AIR MILES can be redeemed for $10, you can potentially earn back up to $9.40 worth of AIR MILES with redeemed Cash Miles, and/or up to $184.20 worth of AIR MILES with redeemed Dream Miles.

To participate in the Redeem Big Event, be sure to log in and opt in through the AIR MILES website or app before doing any redemption. This is a crucial step, since the promotion won’t be applied without opting in.

You may both opt in and redeem until July 26, 2024 to receive the redemption bonuses.

How to Maximize the AIR MILES Redeem Big Event

Since you can only be awarded one redemption bonus tier each for Cash Miles and Dream Miles, you should max out the redemption for both.

If you’re only collecting one flavour of AIR MILES – either Cash Miles or Dream Miles – you can transfer from one side to the other to maximize the promotion.

However, as of this writing, the transfer miles feature is currently disabled due to upgrades. Hence, you can wait and see if the upgrades get enabled again before the promotion ends.

Now, redeeming Cash Miles is easy and straightforward. For one, you can simply redeem $30 worth of e-vouchers for merchants, such as Uber Eats, Doordash, Amazon, and Starbucks, in a few clicks.

You can also redeem at in-store partners, including Shell and Metro grocery stores, for an instant rebate against your bill. Keep in mind, however, that you only have until July 21, 2024 to redeem at Metro grocery stores, after which the grocery chain will exit the AIR MILES program.

When you’ve redeemed at least 285 Cash Miles worth $30, you’ve already maxed out the promotion on the Cash Miles side, and you’ll eventually receive 90 AIR MILES worth $9.40 back.

On the other hand, maxing out this promotion on the Dream Miles side will need more strategizing, since redeeming Dream Miles is more nuanced.

You can redeem your Dream Miles under three categories:

  • Merchandise (e.g. electronics, appliances, etc.)
  • Events & attractions (e.g. cinema tickets, Costco memberships, etc.)
  • Travel (e.g. flights, hotels, activities, etc.)

Of most interest to the Miles & Points community is, of course, travel.

In redeeming with AIR MILES Travel, make sure to compare the cost of redeeming with AIR MILES Travel versus booking with another source, especially with the airline or hotel directly.

In some cases, factoring in the cost in AIR MILES plus the taxes and fees in cash ends up being more expensive than booking elsewhere, especially with air tickets and hotels.

The same goes for merchandise and all other redemptions with Dream Miles. Always check the retail or sale cost of the item versus the cost in AIR MILES. Use the baseline redemption rate of 95 AIR MILES = $10 in making your calculations.

Afterwards, factor in the AIR MILES you’ll be getting back from this Redeem Big Event and see if you’re getting a good deal, all said and done.

Again, you’ll earn 1,750 AIR MILES back when you redeem a total of 5,000 Dream Miles, which is the most you can use per transaction.

Conclusion

Until July 26, 2024, you’ll receive up to 35% AIR MILES back when redeeming under the “Redeem Big Event”.

Under the promotion, you may receive up to 90 AIR MILES back when you redeem 285 Cash Miles, and another 1,750 AIR MILES back when you redeem 5,000 Dream Miles.

If you’re interested, make sure to log in and opt in using the AIR MILES website or app to participate.
