Kenya Airways Asante Rewards is reportedly offering an unpublished status match, which can be an easy way to enjoy some extra perks on SkyTeam flights for the next year.

Since the status match isn’t a published promotion, the details are relatively opaque. However, as with any status matching opportunity, it’s best to take advantage of what’s available, since you never know when it may come in handy.

Kenya Airways Asante Rewards Offering Status Match

Kenya Airways launched its own loyalty program, known as Asante Rewards, in June 2023. Before this, Kenya Airways was a member of the Air France/KLM Flying Blue loyalty program.

At the outset, Kenya Airways only offered a status match opportunity for Air France/KLM Flying Blue members; however, there are reports of another status match opportunity being available to elite members of many other airlines.

If you already hold status with any airline, it’d be in your interest to pursue this status match opportunity, or to at least give it a shot.

To take advantage of the status match, you must complete the following:

  • Sign up for an Asante Rewards account, and select “Full Registration”
  • Send an email to asante@kenya-airways.com, along with your Asante Rewards number, a screenshot of your current status, and a blurb stating that you’d like to request a status match (and maybe a compelling reason why)
  • Keep an eye on your email inbox for a response, which is reported to happen quite quickly

If confirmed, your new status should be valid for 12 months following the date of issuance.

It’s important to note that there aren’t any published guidelines for this status match, and it’s not entirely clear which status will match to which Kenya Airways Asante Rewards status tier.

However, since there are essentially only three Kenya Airways status levels above the free tier, you can expect base-level, mid-tier, and top-tier statuses from other airlines to roughly line up.

Moreover, since this is an unpublished status match, there’s no indication of when this window of opportunity may close. If you stand to‌ gain from it, it’s best to request a match sooner rather than later.

Several Prince of Travel staff members have submitted a status match request, and we’ll update this post as any updates become available.

What Are the Benefits of Kenya Airways Asante Rewards Status?

There are four status tiers in the Asante Rewards program.

The base-level tier is Asante Rewards Ruby, which is given to all members and isn’t really relevant for this status match opportunity.

One tier up is Asante Rewards Silver, which earns you 50% bonus points when you fly, one piece of extra luggage, free seat selection within 24 hours of departure, and SkyTeam Elite status.

SkyTeam Elite status gets you preferred seating, priority check-in, and priority boarding when you travel on any SkyTeam airline in any class of service. In some ways, it’s akin ‌to Star Alliance Silver.

If you match to Asante Rewards Gold, you’ll enjoy 75% bonus points when you fly, complimentary access to Kenya Airways lounges with one guest, and free seat selection within 72 hours of departure.

This is also the first tier that comes with SkyTeam Elite Plus status, which is similar to Star Alliance Gold.

SkyTeam Elite Plus members get access to airport lounges worldwide with one guest when travelling on a SkyTeam airline in any class of service. You’ll also receive SkyPriority, which offers priority security, baggage, and immigration.

If you match to Asante Rewards Platinum, you’ll receive the same SkyPriority and SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits as Asante Rewards Gold members. Additionally, you’ll earn 100% bonus points when you fly, as well as free unconstrained seat selection.

By matching your current airline status to Asante Rewards Gold or Platinum, you could enjoy a nice suite of elevated perks on SkyTeam flights for the next year.

It’s worth noting that not all SkyTeam airlines will accept Asante Rewards numbers on bookings.

If this is the case with your airline, you won’t be able to enjoy any of the extra perks. This is a bit bizarre, as Kenya Airlines is a full SkyTeam member.

It seems as though Air France, KLM, and Delta all accept Kenya Airlines Asante Rewards loyalty numbers for bookings, which means that you should be able to enjoy the extra perks with these airlines if your status match is accepted.

Conclusion

Kenya Airways Asante Rewards is offering an unpublished status match opportunity, whereby members from many airline loyalty programs can earn Asante Rewards status for 12 months.

If granted, you can also enjoy extra benefits when flying with other SkyTeam airlines for the next year, which can be a great way to try out something new.

The process to request a status match is simple, and there’s no need to do any flying to qualify for or extend your status.

This opportunity can be pulled at any time, so it’s worth submitting your status match request sooner rather than later.
