The earning rate varies based on your membership tier, starting at 10 points per Singaporean dollar spent for base-level members and increasing for elite members.

• Classic: 10 points per dollar spent
• Silver: 12 points per dollar spent
• Gold: 14 points per dollar spent
• Platinum: 16 points per dollar spent

Eligible spend includes room rates, dining, and services at participating properties, but excludes taxes and third-party bookings.

While Ascott does not offer a co-branded credit card in North America, there are select credit cards in Asia that provide exclusive benefits:

Purchase and Gift Points

Members can buy ASR points at any time through the Buy Points page, in blocks of 20,000 points from S$50 up to 400,000 points for S$1,000. That works out to 0.25 cents per point, the same as their redemption value, so at face value you're prepaying for a stay rather than getting a discount. Purchases only make sense during bonus promotions, which have offered up to 50% extra points, or when you need a small top-up to complete a redemption.

Two details make buying points more useful than it first looks. Money spent on points counts as qualifying spend toward elite status, so a S$1,000 purchase clears the Silver threshold on its own, and Ascott will extend expiring points if you buy at least the same amount again, which is worth a request to member services before a balance lapses.

Points can also be bought as a gift for another member, who claims them through an email link. There's no cap on the points you can receive as gifts, though gifted points don't count toward status and can't be transferred on.

One thing to keep in mind is that, unlike other hotel points, ASR points expire two years after they are issued, regardless of activity, and purchases are capped at 400,000 points per member per calendar year, not counting bonus points. So it's crucial to buy points with a clear redemption goal in mind.

Use Points to Offset Stays

ASR points can be used as a direct discount on stays at participating properties. Unlike hotel programs that offer free nights at fixed point values, ASR operates on a fixed-value redemption model, meaning points always have a consistent cash value.

Each ASR point is worth 0.25 cents, meaning:

• 1,000 ASR points = S$2.50
• 10,000 ASR points = S$25
• 100,000 ASR points = S$250

Points can be applied at checkout to reduce the total cost of a stay. If a member has enough points to cover the full booking amount, it effectively results in a complimentary stay.

Room Upgrades

ASR does not have a dedicated room upgrade redemption option, but members can use their points to book a higher room category if their balance covers the cost difference.

Dining and Lifestyle Experiences

Members receive a 20% dining discount at participating properties in Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Tours and attractions can also be booked through the Discover ASR site, earning 5 points per Singapore dollar spent, and points can be put toward experiences such as Chelsea Football Club match packages, which are priced in cash or points at the same flat rate as a stay, and the program's local signature events.

Airport Lounge Access

ASR members can redeem 24,000 points for a Priority Pass lounge visit, or 48,000 points for two guests, covering more than 1,700 lounges worldwide. That's the equivalent of S$60 in room credit per visit. It's a practical option for members who don't hold a credit card with lounge access.

Airline Partners and Flight Credits

ASR added its first points-to-miles option in 2026. Members can convert ASR points to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer miles at a rate of 20 points per mile, with a minimum of 5,000 points per conversion and a cap of 50,000 points per calendar year.

Members also earn airline miles on top of ASR points when they link an airline account and book directly. Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Cathay Pacific Asia Miles members earn 500 miles per qualifying direct booking, and ANA Mileage Club and AirAsia rewards members earn miles on qualifying bookings as well.

Cathay Pacific Silver, Gold, and Diamond members are also eligible for a matching ASR tier.

For airlines outside that list, points can be redeemed for flight vouchers of US$50, US$100, or US$200, priced at 35,000, 66,000, and 126,000 points and usable across more than 640 airlines through Ascott's Trip.com partnership. Attractions and tours vouchers are available at the same points prices. Both work out to roughly a fifth less value per point than a stay redemption, so they suit a leftover balance rather than a planned redemption.

Members in Singapore and Malaysia can also convert points to STAR$ for lifestyle rewards. The conversion rates are as follows:

• 10,000 ASR points = 25,000 STAR$
• Members can exchange points in blocks of 10,000 ASR points, up to a maximum of 50,000 ASR points per calendar year.

Once exchanged, STAR$ will be credited within 24 hours and cannot be reversed. This exchange option is available only to CapitaStar members in Singapore and Malaysia.

Ascott Star Rewards Elite Status

ASR offers a four-tier elite status system, designed to reward both frequent short stays and high-spending long-term guests. Unlike many hotel programs that base elite qualification on nights or stays, ASR allows members to qualify purely through total spending, making it more accessible for those booking premium accommodations but staying fewer nights.

Elite status is reviewed based on a rolling 12-month qualifying period, meaning members must meet the spending or night requirements within any continuous 12-month timeframe to maintain or upgrade their status.

ASR matches elite status from a long list of hotel programs, airline programs, and select Singapore-issued credit cards, including Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors, World of Hyatt, and Cathay Pacific. For Canadians, the tiers that match to ASR Platinum are Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite and above, Hilton Honors Diamond, World of Hyatt Globalist, Accor Live Limitless Platinum and above, and GHA Discovery Titanium, and all but Marriott have a Canadian shortcut.
