Earn 50% More Aeroplan Points on Work Trips with Air Canada Embarq

Air Canada Embarq launched on October 8, 2026 as a self-serve booking and travel management platform for Canadian small and medium-sized businesses and non-profits. It costs nothing to join, there's no minimum spend, and employees keep booking on aircanada.com with their own Aeroplan accounts.
Until December 10, 2026, travellers also earn 50% more Aeroplan points on eligible business trips, and the company saves up to 5% on eligible fares. Air Canada says it may extend both launch offers.
How Air Canada Embarq Works
To qualify, your business or non-profit has to be doing business in Canada and be registered in Canada for tax purposes. Companies that already have a corporate agreement with Air Canada are excluded, and so are travel agencies.
One person signs up as the Primary Corporate Travel Manager by linking their Aeroplan number at embarq.aircanada.com. The portal then lets you invite employees, add travel arrangers who can book for colleagues and guests, and see upcoming trips on a map with downloadable booking lists to track spending.
Employees book directly on aircanada.com while logged in to their own Aeroplan account and select the Business Travel option. Trips booked through a travel agency don't qualify for the benefits.

50% More Aeroplan Points and up to 5% off Eligible Fares
Since Air Canada moved to revenue-based earning, Aeroplan members without status earn 1 point per dollar on the base fare and carrier surcharges. Embarq adds a 0.5x bonus on top, so a $600 itinerary earns 900 points instead of 600.
What caught my eye in the fine print is how it treats elite members. The bonus is calculated on base points only and doesn't multiply the Aeroplan Elite points multiplier, so the boost shrinks as your status goes up.
| Aeroplan status | Points on $1,000 today | Points with Embarq | Boost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Member (no status) | 1,000 | 1,500 | 50% |
| 25K | 2,000 | 2,500 | 25% |
| 50K | 4,000 | 4,500 | 12.5% |
| Super Elite | 6,000 | 6,500 | 8% |
Either way, that's an extra 500 points per $1,000, or about $10 at our valuation of 2 cents per point. The bonus points don't count toward Aeroplan Elite Status.
Economy Basic fares, group bookings, and Flight Passes are excluded. So are trips from the United States to Europe, the Middle East, India, or Africa. Trips that start in those regions and head to North or Central America don't qualify either.
The company discount comes off the base fare and stacks with the points offer. It's a percentage within North America and a fixed amount on international routes from Canada, including the Caribbean.
| Fare | North America | International (round trip / one-way) |
|---|---|---|
| Business Class Basic, Standard, Latitude | 5% | $120 / $60 |
| Premium Economy Basic, Standard, Latitude | 5% | $80 / $40 |
| Economy Flex, Comfort, Latitude | 5% | $50 / $25 |
| Economy Standard | 2% | $16 / $8 |
| Economy Basic | Not eligible | Not eligible |
A No-Cost Alternative to Booking Tools and Agencies
The points get the headline, but the platform is the bigger story for small businesses. Central bookings and spend reports have usually meant a travel agency or a third-party booking tool, and many of those charge per-booking or subscription fees.

Embarq gives you those basics at no cost, built into aircanada.com, with booking options that follow company travel policy. It only covers Air Canada flights, though, so it won't replace a full travel management tool if your team also books hotels or other airlines.
Two additions would make it even better. One is letting employees pay the difference themselves to move from Economy Standard to Flex or into a higher cabin, while the company covers what's within policy. The other is booking with Aeroplan points, which plenty of business owners already use for employee travel.
Conclusion
If I ran a small business that flew Air Canada a few times a year, I'd sign up now. It costs nothing, and the bonus points and fare discounts are only confirmed until December 10, 2026.
For bookings made after that date, check whether Air Canada has extended the offers. Even without them, Embarq gives a small business central bookings and spend tracking at no cost, which makes booking direct the easy choice for any team that already flies Air Canada.
