Marriott Bonvoy’s Global Promotion: Earn Bonus Points & Double Elite Nights

Marriott Bonvoy puts on rotating promotions throughout the year, which usually appear quarterly.

As a reminder, Marriott’s first global promotion for 2024 is now live, and you can earn 1,000 bonus points and double elite night credits per eligible paid night this winter and spring.

Marriott’s Global Promotion: Bonus Points and Double Elite Nights

Marriott’s first global promotion for 2024 is now live, and you can earn bonus Marriott Bonvoy points and double elite night credits on paid stays over the winter and spring months.

For each eligible paid night between February 13 and April 29, 2024, you’ll earn 1,000 bonus Mariott Bonvoy points and a bonus elite night credit.

You must register by April 15, 2024 prior to the first qualifying night to be eligible for the promotion, even if your booking was made before the promotion was announced.

While this is a global promotion that should be available to all members, there are reports that some people don’t have the offer available in their account.

If this is the case, it’s worth following up with Marriott by phone, social media, or X (formerly Twitter), as you can be manually enrolled in the promotion.

You’ll need to be on a qualifying rate to be eligible for this promotion, which is defined as any paid rate, including Marriott STARS or Luminous. Unfortunately, bookings made with points, Cash + Points, or Free Night Awards aren’t eligible for this promotion.

Almost any hotel under the Marriott umbrella qualifies for this promotion. Bookings at The Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection, Homes & Villas by Marriott Bonvoy, Marriott Executive Apartments, and owner-occupied weeks at Marriott Vacation Club, Grand Residences by Marriott, Marriott Grand Residence Club, Sheraton Vacation Club, Westin Vacation Club, The Ritz-Carlton Club, St. Regis Residence Club, and Luxury Collection Residence Club aren’t eligible under this promotion.

The fine print states that bonus points earned through the promotion will be posted within seven business days of check-out.

Earn 1,000 bonus Marriott Bonvoy points and an extra elite night credit per eligible paid stay with the Q1 2024 promotion

We’d value 1,000 Bonvoy points at $8 (CAD), so there’s not really any potential to get a meaningful return in points through the promotion. However, if you have any paid stays at Marriott properties over the next few months, there’s certainly no harm in registering.

The best part is earning double elite nights, especially since you’ll earn them per night beginning with the first night, and not per stay or starting with your second stay.

Now is a great time to rack up elite nights to secure your status for another year, or to earn nights towards lifetime elite status

How to Maximize Marriott’s Global Promotion

With a fixed amount of Bonvoy points available through the promotion, there isn’t much room to get outsized value this time around.

You stand to benefit the most if you tend to make shorter stays at less expensive properties. You’ll get the same 1,000 points per night if you spend one night at a property that costs $50, as you would if you spent $1,000 per night at a high-end property.

You’ll earn the same amount of points at the Courtyard by Marriott Edmonton Downtown as you would at The Ritz-Carlton Toronto with this promotion

Therefore, your best bet is to make bookings with less-expensive brands, as you’ll be generating an extra 1,000 points for each paid night. However, this promotion isn’t lucrative enough to go out of your way to earn points this way.

It’s worth noting that there are some concurrent promotions that you can take advantage of to help offset the cost of stays.

In Edmonton and Richmond, there are some great hotel offers available through Edmonton’s Best Hotels and Visit Richmond, respectively.

Through these programs, you earn a prepaid credit card when you make a booking through the dedicated booking portals, which can then be used against the cost of your stay.

Unlike booking through other online travel agencies, these bookings appear to be made directly with the hotel, which means that they’re considered eligible rates. Simply contact the hotel once you’ve made your booking and ask them to attach your Bonvoy number, and then make use of the benefits you enjoy through your status.

For stays at higher-end properties, consider booking through Marriott Luminous or Marriott STARS. The bookings are made directly with the hotel, which means that they indeed qualify under this promotion.

You won’t pay more than the best available refundable rate, and you’ll enjoy a suite of extra perks on top of your status benefits, including free breakfast, a property credit (varies by property), priority for room upgrades, and more.

Marriott Bonvoy’s first global promotion for 2024 allows members to earn 1,000 bonus points and an extra elite night credit per eligible paid night.

If you’re able to make use of the promotion, it’ll add a few extra points to your balance and help you secure status this year twice as fast.

Registration is required by April 15, 2024, and then you can earn on stays between February 13 and April 29, 2024. Be sure to register and complete your paid stays during the promotional period to enjoy a few extra points and double elite nights in your account.

I was experiencing the same as Stephen. I phoned in. Took the CSR about a minute to add the promo to my account. Apparently it may take 24-hours for my account to show the registration.

As a Marriott Platinum, if I book two rooms for a one night stay paying cash, will I get 2+2 elite night credits with this promotion? The second room will be used for my teenage children

    1. christopher

No it certainly won’t. During normal times, booking 2 rooms in the same night grant you 1 elite night only. So during the promotion, it would be 1 x 2 = 2 elite nights. In fact, if the T&C also states that only 1 room can qualify when booking multi rooms in the same night

I have Bonvoy Gold status via Platinum Amex card. My total elite nights in the Bonvoy account is 15 nights all earned from credit card. I thought gold status would read 25 elite nights and therefore 25 nights remaining to achieve next level? I am interested in this current promotion. Can you advise how many elite nights gold credit card status should earn?

  4. John Buchet

    Same for me. Platinum also

  5. Stephen

Not sure if it’s available to everyone, I am unable to register for this promotion, Platinum member.
