Status Match to Flying Blue Silver or Gold

Air France KLM Flying Blue has relaunched its paid status match offer for 2026, giving Canadians another opportunity to fast-track their way to SkyTeam Elite status.
The status match is available as of April 8, 2026, with applications processed through StatusMatch.com. If you hold Aeroplan elite status, or elite status with one of more than two dozen other eligible airline programs, you can pay a one-time fee to unlock Flying Blue Elite Status for the next 12 months.
One important change to flag is that Platinum status isn’t on the table for Canadians in this round. Only Silver and Gold are available, with Gold being the higher of the two.
That’s a noteworthy shift from the previous Canadian offer, which let applicants match all the way up to Platinum.
Matching Status with Flying Blue
Flying Blue’s paid status match has had several iterations over the past couple of years, with the eligible regions and pricing shifting from one round to the next. For Canadians, the price points remain unchanged from the previous round, although the available tiers have shifted (more on that below).
The current offer is open to residents of the following regions.
- Canada – Silver and Gold
- United States – Silver and Gold
- Singapore and Thailand – Silver, Gold, and Platinum
- Italy – Silver, Gold, and Platinum (eligible airline programs are limited to ITA Airways Volare and Lufthansa Group’s Miles & More for Italian residents)
To be eligible, you must already hold an active Flying Blue account (free to enroll at flyingblue.com) and elite status with one of two dozen partner airline programs. The full mapping of how each airline’s elite tiers translate to Flying Blue Silver, Gold, or Platinum is shown below.

Notably, this round adds Thai Airways Royal Orchid Plus and ITA Airways Volare to the eligible programs list. Etihad Guest, which had appeared in previous rounds, is no longer included.
For Canadian residents, the Platinum tier shown in the table above is off-limits, regardless of which airline program you’re matching from. The highest tier available in this round is Gold.
Here’s a creative workaround for anyone who doesn’t currently hold elite status with any of the eligible airline programs. If you happen to have Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite (or higher) and an Asia trip on the horizon, you can chain together a sequence of status moves that lands you at Flying Blue Gold.
As I’ve previously explained, Marriott Platinum can be instantly matched to Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer Elite Silver, which then opens the door to the KrisFlyer Elite Gold Accelerator Challenge. The challenge calls for four Singapore Airlines segments within six months, which is easily completed on a single round-trip itinerary with a layover on each leg.
Once KrisFlyer Elite Gold is in hand, that’s a status you can match across to Flying Blue Gold through this offer. It’s a great example of how a single status play can ladder up into benefits across several programs at once, hopping from Marriott to Star Alliance to SkyTeam.
This status match opportunity is available exclusively on the Status Match website, and the application fees vary by your country of residence.
Flying Blue Status Match — Pricing by Region (April 2026)
| Country/Region | Flying Blue Silver | Flying Blue Gold | Flying Blue Platinum |
|---|---|---|---|
| Canada | CAD 149 | CAD 299 | Not available |
| United States | USD 99 | USD 199 | Not available |
| Singapore, Thailand | USD 99 | USD 299 | USD 399 |
| Italy (ITA Volare or Miles & More only) | EUR 89 | EUR 199 | EUR 349 |
There’s one quirky detail worth highlighting. If you hold a top-tier status with one of the partner airlines that would normally map to Flying Blue Platinum, you can choose to match to Gold instead of Platinum during the application process, and pay the lower Gold-tier fee.
This is a useful option for top-tier elites in regions where Platinum is offered but where Gold may be the more practical choice.

Once you’re approved, you’ll enjoy Flying Blue status for 12 months. To extend the status further, you’ll need to fulfill the standard Flying Blue earning requirements through revenue flying or co-branded credit card spend.
After submitting the application, you’ll typically hear back within three business days about your request, and your status will appear in your Flying Blue account within five business days of approval. You may be asked to provide additional documentation, such as a passport or driver’s licence, along with proof of your existing airline status.
As per the terms and conditions, you’re only eligible for one Flying Blue status match per person, ever. This means that if you took advantage of a previous round, you won’t be eligible to participate again.
For first-time matchers, this also means you should think carefully about which tier to pursue, since you won’t get a second chance.
This offer is limited in terms of the number of status matches available, and Flying Blue and StatusMatch.com reserve the right to end or amend the campaign without notice. If you’re eligible and interested, it’s worth applying sooner rather than later.
Flying Blue Silver, Gold, and Platinum Benefits
As a reminder, Flying Blue offers four elite status tiers, namely Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Ultimate.
Through this status match offer, it’s not possible to match to the top-tier Ultimate status, and as noted above, Canadian residents are limited to Silver and Gold in this round.

Air France KLM Flying Blue Elite Status: Guide to Qualifying and Privileges
Read moreIf you have Aeroplan 25K or 35K status (or the equivalent entry-level elite tier with one of the other eligible airlines), you’ll be matched to Flying Blue Silver, which comes with the benefits listed below.
- Earn 6 Flying Blue miles per euro spent on Air France & KLM flights, as well as selected extra options
- Priority check-in, baggage drop-off, and boarding
- Free selection of standard seats
- Free seat options 24 hours before departure
- One free extra checked bag on eligible flights
You’ll also enjoy SkyTeam Elite status at the Silver level, which adds these perks when flying in any class of service with a SkyTeam-member airline.
- Priority reservation waitlist
- Preferred seating
- Priority check-in counters
- Priority boarding
- Extra baggage allowance
It’s worth noting that Silver does not grant lounge access, even when flying with a SkyTeam carrier. For lounge access, you’ll need to match to Gold or above.

Aeroplan 50K (or the equivalent mid-tier elite status with one of the other eligible airlines) maps to Flying Blue Gold, which adds the following perks and benefits over what’s offered at the Silver level.
- Earn 7 Flying Blue miles per euro spent on Air France & KLM flights, as well as selected extra options
- Free access to select lounges worldwide with a guest (conditions apply)
- SkyPriority priority access throughout the airport
- Free seat options 72 hours before departure
- Free selection of standard seats
- One free extra checked bag on eligible flights
Gold status with Flying Blue is equivalent to SkyTeam Elite Plus status, which grants the SkyTeam benefits shown below when flying with a SkyTeam-member airline.
- Guaranteed full-fare economy reservation on sold-out long-haul flights, at least 24 hours prior to departure
- Access to airport lounges worldwide, in any class of service, with a guest
- Priority baggage handling on arrival, in any class of service
- Extra baggage allowance
Of these benefits, the most valuable are the lounge access privileges when travelling in any class of service, the priority airport services, and the increased baggage allowance. If you fly SkyTeam carriers semi-regularly, even in economy, Gold can pay for itself in lounge visits alone over the course of 12 months.

For most Canadian readers, Gold is the sweet spot of this offer. At $299 (CAD), the price tag is reasonable for 12 months of SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits, and it’s the highest tier available to Canadians in this round.
The Platinum tier described below is not available to Canadians in this round.
Top-tier status with one of the partner airlines maps to Flying Blue Platinum (assuming you reside in Singapore, Thailand, or Italy), which adds the incremental benefits shown below over Gold.
- Earn 8 Flying Blue miles per euro spent on Air France & KLM flights, as well as selected extra options
- Complimentary access to select lounges across the globe, plus one guest
- SkyPriority priority access at the airport
- Free standard seat selection at booking
- Free preferred seat options
- One free extra checked bag on eligible flights
- Waived service fees for changes on award flights
- 24/7 access to the exclusive Platinum Service Line
What makes Platinum status so coveted is the ability to redeem Flying Blue miles for Air France La Première, the airline’s ultra-premium first class product, which otherwise isn’t accessible with points or miles. Many travellers in past rounds matched to Platinum specifically to unlock this booking capability.

Without access to Platinum in this round, the La Première redemption strategy remains out of reach for Canadian matchers. Even so, Gold members who continue earning XP with Flying Blue may still progress toward Platinum over time through ongoing flying and credit card activity.
Conclusion
Whether this status match is worth the application fee comes down to how often you actually fly SkyTeam. Anyone routing through Paris or Amsterdam to reach India, Asia, or Africa a few times a year will earn back the $299 (CAD) Gold fee in lounge visits and priority benefits before the year is out. For someone who only steps onto an Air France or KLM flight occasionally, the math is much harder to justify.
My take is that Gold is the only tier worth pursuing in this round. Silver doesn’t include lounge access, which is the main reason most travellers care about elite status in the first place, and Platinum isn’t on offer for Canadians. Gold sits in the sweet spot of getting you SkyTeam Elite Plus benefits at a price that pays for itself with two or three lounge visits.
One caveat worth flagging is the “one match per person, ever” restriction. Anyone who took advantage of a previous Flying Blue status match round is no longer eligible, and first-time applicants only get one shot. Pick your moment carefully, since you won’t get to do this again later.
Anyone eligible and ready to apply can head over to the Status Match website to submit a request. Past rounds have come and gone with little notice, so the longer you wait, the higher the risk that the offer disappears.
