On a recent trip to Edmonton, I spent my second night in Edmonton at the Delta Edmonton Centre Suites after my first night at the Westin Edmonton. Having stayed here before in 2021, I was interested to compare the experience as the hotel wasn’t operating with full service at that time.
I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at this hotel, particularly due to the size of the suite I was able to score and the tasty breakfast.
Here’s a look at my unexpectedly delightful experience.
Delta Edmonton Centre Suites – Booking
I booked a base-level room for my stay for $110 under a travel agent rate, which was a great deal.
Regular nightly cash rates hover around $150–210 per night throughout the year.
The cost in Marriott Bonvoy points is 20,000 points until the end of 2022, and then 21,000 points throughout 2023. If the cash rate rises above $200 or so, you can get reasonable value by redeeming points, based on our current valuation at 0.9cpp.
For the most part, you should be able to get a nightly rate of around $150, so it’s likely best to save your points for a higher value redemption.
Two pets are welcome in the hotel for a fixed price of $35 for five nights, and $35 for any subsequent nights. Parking is available on-site for $35 per day.

Delta Edmonton Centre Suites – Location
The Delta Edmonton Centre Suites is located in Edmonton’s City Centre Mall. The mall has certainly seen better days, but the hotel is still ideally situated in the heart of Edmonton.
The nice part about being connected to a shopping mall is that you’ll be able to find pretty much you’d need within a few minutes. The mall has been eerily quiet on my last few visits, and doesn’t instill a lot of confidence in its recovery from the pandemic.
The Delta Edmonton Centre Suites is only a few minutes by foot to Rogers Place, making it an ideal location to stay if you’re catching a hockey game or a concert. Edmonton’s downtown core is steps away from the hotel, too.
The River Valley is only a few minutes away, and you can also consider taking a ride on the High Level Bridge Streetcar to get to the south side of the river.
Bay Enterprise Square LRT station is close by on Jasper Avenue, which connects you to the rest of the LRT line.
Taking transit to the airport will take around an hour, while going by car, Uber, or taxi will shorten the trip to 30 minutes or so.
Delta Edmonton Centre Suites – Check-in
I strolled over from the Westin Edmonton after having breakfast with Kirin from the Prince of Travel team. I messaged the hotel in the morning to confirm that my room was ready prior to checking out of my other hotel.
The main entrance to the hotel is from the north side of the mall, although you could also simply walk through the mall to find the entrance.
Once inside, you enter the hotel through the same access point as if you had came from anywhere else in the shopping mall.
The lobby lounge features a few armchairs centred around an electric fireplace. There isn’t a lot of room here, but it was a perfectly fine place to sit when I waited for my friend the following morning.
Check-in was swift and painless. The associate confirmed my Marriott Platinum benefits for the stay, and also went to say that my room was one of the best in the hotel.
Soon after making my booking, I scrolled through the Suite Night Award availability at this hotel, as I had a few to use that were expiring. To my surprise, some of the hotel’s highest-level rooms were available, so I decided to burn a Suite Night Award for one of these rooms.
An email confirmed that my Suite Night Award was approved within five days of my stay. There are certainly swankier hotels to burn Suite Night Awards, but I decided that sprucing up my stay in Edmonton wasn’t so bad after all.
One of the elevators was under repair, so I waited for a minute or two before heading up to the sixth floor.
Delta Edmonton Centre Suites – North Saskatchewan Suite
The Delta Edmonton Centre Suites has undergone a redesign and renovation recently. The elevator lobby and hallways were brightly lit, and the hotel as a whole appears to be much more fresh than previous reviews would suggest.
My room for the night, the North Saskatchewan Suite, was located on the hotel’s sixth floor. Technically, its room number is 609; however, the decal outside the room simply says the suite’s name rather than the room number.
Immediately upon entry is an island that functions as a breakfast bar, with seating for two. On the wall opposite the island is a large television, as well as a mini-fridge, sink, microwave, and some empty cabinets.
There was a small plate of fruit and a handwritten note from the hotel as a welcome gift. During my previous stay here, I had a bottle of sparkling wine as a welcome gift, which I would have much preferred.
Heading through the suite, you’ll find a smaller, two-piece bathroom between the bedroom and the breakfast bar area. In this bathroom is a toilet and LED-backlit vanity.
The bedroom is tucked away in a southward-facing corner of the suite. It’s separated from the rest of the suite by a door.
The king bed takes up most of the space in the bedroom. Two side tables and wall-mounted lamps flank the very cozy bed.
There is another television and a dresser opposite the bed, as well as a full-length mirror and hallway bench in a nook next to a small closet. Inside the closet were two bathrobes.
The ensuite bathroom is very spacious. There’s an inviting bathtub situated next to the window, which I unfortunately didn’t have the opportunity to take advantage of.
A large vanity with a single sink runs along the wall, with a cabinet of amenities to its right.
There is a large walk-in shower next to the vanity, which had excellent water pressure. Another toilet is nestled in the corner of the bathroom besides the shower and behind the door.
Heading back into the hallway, art lines the walls as the hallway leads to a vast, open space.
In this space is a large, wooden table with seating for eight, a two-person couch, and two blue armchairs which add a pop of colour to the space. Furthermore, there are shelves in the rear of the room with various decorative objects.
A desk overlooks the shopping mall’s roof, which isn’t an inspiring view. The chair was quite comfortable, and I was very happy to spend a few hours working here during my stay.
Lastly, there is an electric fireplace with an even large television mounted above it on the wall near the desk.
I was very happy with the suite, and found it to be very spacious, comfortable, and relatively well appointed. My only regret is not having some sort of gathering here, as it felt like a shame to have all of that room solely for myself.
Delta Edmonton Centre Suites – Breakfast
My friend and his infant son picked me up for a morning jog in Hawrelak Park the next day. We arrived back at the hotel hungry and ready to enjoy breakfast at District 102.
District 102 is located on the hotel’s second floor. It is also accessible through the City Centre shopping mall.
There is a variety of seating throughout the restaurant, and I enjoyed the iron and wood accents throughout.
Breakfast is served from 6–11:30am on weekdays, and from 7–11:30am on weekends. The restaurant is also open for lunch and dinner seven days per week.
After giving the waitress my breakfast voucher, she kindly informed us that we could order any two items from the à la carte menu, as well as a coffee product and juice.
My tastebuds led me to the All Canadian Breakfast, which included eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, and toast, along with a cappuccino and a glass of orange juice.
My friend ordered the New York Steak and Eggs, which featured a four ounce striploin steak, two eggs, hash browns, and toast. His son snacked on some berries, avocado, and milk.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and the staff were all lovely.
While a hot self-serve buffet is good for covering two meals in a day, I also appreciate ordering right from a menu if I don’t want to have a large meal.
Should I stay at this hotel again, I’d also consider coming back for some shuffleboard and beer. The space looked quite inviting, and after a positive breakfast experience, I’d love to come back for more.
Delta Edmonton Centre Suites – Other Facilities
The hotel doesn’t feature too many other amenities for guests.
Next to District 102 is is Craft Café, which serves excellent coffee and a selection of grab and go items. I order coffee from the roaster’s Calgary location monthly, so I was very happy to find it available at the hotel.
In the lobby lounge is a small work centre with a single iMac set up next to a large table without chairs or stools.
The fitness centre can be found on the hotel’s third floor. It’s open daily from 7am to 11pm.
The equipment in the fitness centre is all relatively new, and overall, the space is fairly well appointed. You’ll find treadmills, elliptical machines, exercise bikes, and a stair machine, as well as some free weights and strength training equipment.
Conclusion
I was very pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Delta Edmonton Centre Suites.
It’s not Edmonton’s most luxurious hotel, but for a modest price it offers newly renovated rooms, solid elite benefits (including a delightful breakfast), and central access to Edmonton’s downtown.
Since I visit the city quite often, I’d surely give this hotel another opportunity on a future stay.
