Porter Airlines has announced two new routes to Las Vegas this winter and one of them means Canadians will soon be able to fly direct from the Nation’s Capital to Nevada’s playground.

Porter will operate four non-stop flights daily between Ottawa (YOW) and Las Vegas (LAS) beginning November 1, 2024. Non-stop service from Montreal (YUL) to Las Vegas (LAS) will begin the following day, November 2, 2024, with flights operating three times a week.

The new service complements Porter’s existing twice-daily Las Vegas flights from Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).

Porter Expands Service to Las Vegas from Ottawa and Montreal

Beginning November 1, 2024, Porter Airlines will launch four-times weekly flights from Ottawa (YOW) to Las Vegas (LAS) with the following flight times:

  • PD651 Ottawa (YOW) to Las Vegas (LAS), departing 6pm and arriving 8:20 pm
  • PD652 Las Vegas (LAS) to Ottawa (YOW), departing 9:35am and arriving 5pm

Beginning November 2, 2024, Porter Airlines will launch thrice-weekly flights from Montreal (YUL) to Las Vegas with the following flight times:

  • PD657 Montreal (YUL) to Las Vegas (LAS), departing 5:35pm and arriving 8:25 pm
  • PD658 Las Vegas (LAS) to Montreal (YUL), departing 8:50am and arriving 4:35pm

President of Porter Airlines, Kevin Jackson says, “These new routes to Las Vegas reflect our commitment to meeting passenger demand and offering superior service across our expanding network.”

Ottawa’s International Airport Authority calls the expansion a “jackpot” for YOW, saying it’s all around good news for the Ottawa community.

Both routes will be served by Porter’s new Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, which has 132 seats across 33 rows. The seating is arranged in a 2-2 configuration, meaning that there’s no middle seat (which is actually the case for all of Porter’s seating configurations).

All Porter Airlines flights have no middle seats

When booking Porter Airlines you can opt from two classes of services, PorterReserve and PorterClassic. With PorterReserve you’ll enjoy a dedicated check-in and expedited security while passengers on either will enjoy free Wi-Fi,complimentary snacks, and beer or wine served in glassware regardless of where they are seated.

The new routes are already loaded and can be booked on the Porter Airline website with cash or VIPorter points.

Which Credit Cards Are Best for Booking Porter Airlines Flights?

As it stands, Porter Airlines doesn’t offer a co-branded credit card in Canada; however, the airline has signalled that one is on its way at some point in the near future.

When considering which credit card to use for Porter Airlines flights, you’ll want to use one that offers strong insurance in the event of any disruptions, lounge access, and points that you can use to book travel in the future.

For cards that earn transferable points, we’d suggest the American Express Platinum Card or the American Express Gold Rewards Card, which both earn 2 Membership Rewards points per dollar spent on travel. Plus, they both offer strong insurance, and a range of other perks and benefits, including lounge access.

For cards that earn fixed-value points, we’d suggest the Scotiabank Platinum American Express® Card, which earn 2 Scene+ points per dollar spent on all eligible purchases, and also comes with strong insurance and lounge access.

Conclusion

Porter Airlines will soon offer two new seasonal routes connecting Ottawa and Montreal to the vibrant city of Las Vegas beginning this winter.

These new routes complement the existing service from Toronto Pearson (YYZ) to Las Vegas (LAS), and according to the airline, will address customer demand.

If you’re interested in these new routes, be sure to use a credit card that earns travel rewards and offers strong insurance in the event of any disruptions to your plans.
