With just a few months to go before Oman Air is set to join the oneworld Alliance, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan has launched a partnership with the Muscat-based air carrier, making it possible to redeem Alaska miles for travel on Oman Air.

Oman Air Now Bookable with Alaska Miles

This week, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan added Muscat-based Oman Air as a redemption partner which means that effective immediately, you can use Alaska miles to book flights on Oman Air.

Alaska Airlines has already updated its website to reflect the partnership, referencing the fact that Oman Air will be joining the oneworld alliance and letting Mileage Plan members know they can now redeem on Oman Air and that the ability to earn miles is “coming soon”.

Oman Air is now bookable with Alaska miles

To redeem Alaska miles for Oman Air flights, you can book award travel online through the Alaska Airlines website and mobile app, and at first glance, availability is pretty good.

When it comes to some of the carrier’s longer routes, you could snap up a Frankfurt (FRA) to Muscat (MCT) economy flight for as low as 22,500 Alaska miles and business class for 45,000 miles.

Meanwhile, a short-haul flight from Muscat (MCT) to Doha (DOH )is just 7,500 Alaska miles for economy and 15,000 miles for business class.

Oman Air announced back in 2022 that it would be joining the oneworld alliance this year. When a new member joins, it increases the value of the miles from programs within the alliance, while widening the alliance’s range of products and destinations.

Although Oman Air does not fly to North America, the airline does operate flights to Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and across Asia from its hub in Muscat.

Nowadays, Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan is easier to access than ever before (especially in the United States). Here’s a look at some of the best ways to earn:

  • Transfer from Marriott Bonvoy (60,000 Bonvoy points = 25,000 Alaska miles).
  • Transfer from Bilt Rewards at a 1:1 ratio.
  • Convert American Express US Membership Rewards to HawaiianMiles miles, and then convert Hawaiian Miles to Alaska miles with the recent takeover
  • Buy miles during one of the frequent sales
  • Flying with Alaska Airlines and oneworld carriers and crediting flights to Mileage Plan

How Is Flying with Oman Air

Oman Air is currently adjusting its fleet, and while it may not be as widely known as other Gulf carriers, it maintains an excellent business class product onboard the Boeing 787 aircraft.

The business class cabin on the Boeing 787 features just 18 spacious Apex Suites arranged in a 2-2-2 configuration across three rows, with each lie-flat business class seat having direct aisle access.

Passengers flying in business class are not only treated to an exceptional dining experience, but also enjoy added touches such as comfy pajamas which help to make the overall Oman Air business class experience an enjoyable one.

Conclusion

Oman Air Awards are now bookable through Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan. This is exciting news, since Oman Air is set to join the oneworld alliance by the end of 2024 which adds to the alliance’s range of products and destinations.

While you can’t yet earn Alaska miles when flying Oman Air, that is expected to be coming soon opening up even more opportunities for earning and redeeming.
