Alaska Air Group Launches Global Gateway in Seattle

Less than three months after Seattle-based Alaska Airlines completed its acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines, the Alaska Air Group has announced Seattle will become its Global hub, giving travellers a convenient option between the Pacific Northwest and Japan.

Beginning May 12, 2025, Alaska Air will launch daily non-stop flights on Hawaiian Airlines between Seattle (SEA) and Tokyo Narita (NRT) with the following flight times:

  • HA823 Seattle (SEA) to Tokyo Narita (NRT), departing 1:30pm and arriving 4:00pm the next day
  • HA824 Tokyo Narita (NRT) to Seattle (SEA), departing 6:25pm and arriving 11:30am

The Seattle-Tokyo Narita route is clocked at 10 hours 30 minutes, while the Tokyo Narita-Seattle flight will run 9 hours 5 minutes.

Seats on the Seattle-Tokyo Narita route are already available for booking on both the Alaskaair.com and hawaiianairlines.com websites while non-stop daily flights between Seattle (SEA) and Seoul Incheon (ICN) will launch in October, 2025, with booking availability set to open early next year.

Both routes will be serviced by Hawaiian Airline’s Airbus A330-200 aircraft which offers 18 lie-flat seats in First Class, 68 seats in Economy Comfort and 192 seats in Economy.

Alaska Air Group says over the next five years, it plans to serve at least 12 non-stop global destinations with long-haul widebody aircraft from the Seattle gateway with further specifics on where and when still to come.

Chief Executive Officer for Alaska Air Group, Ben Minicucci says “We believe our guests will be as excited as we are about these new nonstop flights to Tokyo and Seoul – two of the world’s most dynamic cities. From our global gateway in Seattle, we can conveniently connect travelers from across our network as they head to Asia and beyond. Hawaiian’s spacious widebody aircraft, along with its excellent onboard service and amenities, will make for a terrific trip from one side of the Pacific Rim to the other.”

In addition to announcing these two routes, Alaska Air Group says it will enhance its Seattle (SEA) to Honolulu (HNL) service by operating three of its six daily nonstop flights with Hawaiian’s widebody aircraft to accommodate growing passenger demand. The airline will also increase flight frequency on the San Diego (SAN) to Maui (OGG) route.
