Air Canada has announced plans to offer free Wi-Fi across its entire fleet, with the initial roll-out set to begin May, 2025.
The service, sponsored by Bell, will be available to Aeroplan members on Wi-Fi equipped planes for North American and Sun destination flights, while Long-haul international routes will follow in 2026.
Air Canada to Launch Free Wi-Fi in May 2025
Air Canada says it will begin to offer fast, free Wi-Fi on select flights as of next spring. Beginning May 2025, Aeroplan members will receive the complimentary service, sponsored by Bell, on Wi-Fi equipped planes flying within North America and to Sun destinations in Mexico and the Caribbean.
The service will expand to long-haul international routes in 2026.
In making the announcement the airline said the complimentary Wi-Fi will be available on Air Canada, Air Canada Rouge and most Air Canada Express aircraft.
The service builds on an existing partnership that’s been in place between Air Canada and Bell since May, 2023.
Through that partnership, Aeroplan members have had access to free Wi-Fi texting service sponsored by Bell, allowing passengers to send and receive messages through apps such as iMessage, WhatsApp, Messenger, Viber, and Messages by Google.
Executive VP, Marketing and Digital at Air Canada, and Aeroplan President Mark Nasr says access to reliable streaming-quality Wi-Fi is essential for those travelling for business and leisure, which is why the airline is upgrading its fleet with the latest technologies.
“We’re excited to offer fast, free Wi-Fi to all Aeroplan members, with a customer-focused rollout plan that includes installation of service on the Air Canada Express Q400s, including those that fly from Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport. Although other Canadian airlines have announced free Wi-Fi services, not all have accelerated installation across their fleets or committed to offering the service comprehensively. Air Canada plans to offer fast, free Wi-Fi across its entire fleet and will begin rolling out this service in early Spring. What’s more, over 85% of aircraft will be connected from day one, with the remaining installations being a priority throughout 2025.”
