Aeroplan to Extend Status Validity to 13 Months

Air Canada has announced it is extending the status validity length for Aeroplan elite members.
Instead of expiring at the end of the calendar year, Aeroplan Elite Status will now extend through to the end of January of the following year, giving elite members 13 months of status validity.
Air Canada says the extension will ensure that status benefits aren’t interrupted during the busy winter holiday travel season.
Aeroplan to Extend Status Validity to 13 Months
Air Canada is introducing Extended Status Validity to make sure Aeroplan members’ status benefits aren’t interrupted during the busy winter holiday travel season. This means that if you hold Aeroplan Elite Status in 2024, it will now extend through to January 31, 2025, instead of ending on December 31, 2024.
Air Canada says the improvement to Aeroplan’s Elite Status program was driven entirely by the feedback of members.
Air Canada has a dedicated landing page with full details on the extension policy along with what they anticipate will be some frequently asked questions.

For Aeroplan members who secure their Elite Status for 2025 before the end of 2024, their status will be extended until January 31, 2026. The Elite Status will be extended automatically and 2025 Core and Select Benefits will be available by mid‑January, as usual.
If you’re expecting a downgrade in your Elite Status in 2025, Air Canada says the status validity policy change means that your 2024 Elite Status will be extended until January 31, 2025, giving you an extra month to enjoy your travel benefits.
Your new Elite Status, if applicable, will take effect on February 1, 2025, and your Core and Select Benefits will be available by mid‑February.
Aeroplan will start extending elite status expiry dates in December, and earning Aeroplan Elite Status will remain based on your account activity between January 1 and December 31 of each year.
