Prince of Travel Platinum Members are eligible to participate in the Prince of Travel Hotel Crowns Program.
Summary: After staying 10 nights at a preferred partner rate booked with Prince of Travel, members can book an 11th night free, up to the average value of the previous 10 nights.
Earning Crowns:
- Only hotel stays booked through our travel agency at our preferred partner rates (e.g. Virtuoso, Marriott STARS, Hyatt Privé, etc.) are eligible to earn and redeem Crowns.
- For each eligible hotel night stayed, the member earns one Crown.
- Each Crown has a qualifying spend attached to it, equal to the base room rate for the night, as confirmed by Prince of Travel at the time the reservation is made, excluding other charges such as taxes, fees, service charges, and incidentals.
- For multi-night reservations where the room rate differs between nights, each night will be valued at the average rate of all nights.
- Members do not earn Crowns when redeeming Crowns towards a hotel night. If a member redeems a Crown towards one night of a multi-night stay, the member will still earn Crowns on the other nights of the stay.
- Qualifying spend is tracked in US dollars. If the room rate is priced in a different currency, it will be converted to US dollars at the spot rate on the date the reservation is made.
- Crowns for the entire stay are deposited after Prince of Travel has received commission from the hotel for the stay, which may take up to 60 days in normal circumstances, or longer in exceptional cases.
Redeeming Crowns:
- If a member has at least 10 Crowns in their account, they can redeem a free hotel night rebate.
- Crowns are only available for redemption once they have been deposited.
- Crowns are redeemed 10 at a time. The redemption value is equal to the average qualifying spend attached to the 10 Crowns.
- The redemption value can only be used to cover the base room rate for the night, as confirmed by Prince of Travel at the time the reservation is made, excluding other charges such as taxes, fees, service charges, and incidentals.
- For multi-night reservations where the room rate differs between nights, the base rate for each night will be calculated as the average rate of all nights.
- For redemption values exceeding the base rate of one room for one night, any value in excess of the base rate is forfeited.
- The redemption value can only be used to cover one hotel night, i.e. the value of a redemption cannot be spread across more than one night on the same reservation.
- The redemption value can only be used to cover one room, i.e. the value of a redemption cannot be spread across more than one room on the same night. If a member books more than one room for the same night at different rates (e.g. one base-level room and one suite), the redemption will be applied to the more expensive room rate.
- Redemptions may be used for base room rates exceeding the redemption value. In that case, the member would be rebated up to the redemption value, and then they would be responsible for bearing the remaining cost.
- Redemption values and room rates are calculated in US dollars. If the room rate is priced in a different currency, it will be converted to US dollars at the spot rate on the date the reservation is made.
- Crowns are redeemed on a first-in-first-out basis: if a member has more than 10 Crowns, the oldest 10 will be redeemed first. Members with at least 20 Crowns may elect to redeem more than one night on the same reservation. Each batch of 10 Crowns may have a different redemption value, depending on the average qualifying spend of each batch of 10 Crowns.
- Crowns expire one year after the date they were deposited.
- Crowns can only be redeemed for new reservations. They cannot be redeemed for upcoming reservations that have already been made, nor can they be applied as a credit against stays that have been completed.
- To make a redemption, the member must elect to do so at the time of booking, and they must inform their travel advsior in writing that they wish to do so.
- Members are responsible for paying for their entire hotel bill up front, either prepaid or upon check-out depending on the terms of the reservation. The free night will be distributed to the member as a rebate after Prince of Travel has received commission from the hotel for the stay, which may take up to 60 days in normal circumstances, or longer in exceptional cases. Redemption values will be converted from US dollars to the member’s preferred currency at the spot rate on the date the rebate payment is initiated, and sent via a digital money transfer method:
- USD: ACH
- CAD: Interac e-Transfer
- Also available for other currencies, at Prince of Travel’s discretion
Hotel Crowns are displayed on the Membership dashboard on the Prince of Travel website. This information may not be updated in real time.
The opportunity to earn and redeem Crowns is exclusively available to Prince of Travel Platinum Members. Crowns cannot be earned on hotel nights prior to June 26, 2023, or on hotel nights stayed while the individual did not have an active Prince of Travel Platinum Membership in good standing. Individuals must be a Prince of Travel Platinum Member on or before the calendar check-in date of their reservation for any nights on the reservation to be eligible to earn Crowns. If an individual’s Platinum Membership lapses or is suspended for any reason, all pending and unredeemed Crowns, and any pending rebates, are forfeited.
Members can only earn and redeem Crowns on reservations booked in their own name. If a member books multiple rooms at the same property for the same night, they can earn Crowns for each room, as long as their name is attached to one of the rooms for that night.
Members deemed to be abusing the Hotel Crowns Program in the sole discretion of Prince of Travel may have their participation in the program and/or their Platinum Membership suspended or terminated.
