Earn Double Aeroplan Points on Air Canada Flights

Air Canada has launched the “The World Is Big, So Is Our Sale” promotion, which offers double Aeroplan points earned on bookings and discounts on cash flights throughout its network.

Flights must be booked by 11:59pm Pacific time on January 10, 2023 for travel between January 13, 2023 and December 15, 2023, so you’ll need to act quickly if you think you’ll benefit from the offer.

If you have any plans to book paid flights with Air Canada for 2023, this represents a great way to boost your Aeroplan balance on flights that you’d take anyway.

Earn Double Aeroplan Points on Air Canada Flights

With Air Canada’s “The World Is Big, So Is Our Sale” promotion, you can earn double Aeroplan points on paid Air Canada flights for most of 2023. The amount of points you’ll earn depends on the fare purchased and the distance flown.

You’ll need to register on Air Canada’s website first, and then you’ll need to book a flight by 11:59pm Pacific time on January 10, 2023. As long as you’ve met these requirements, you’ll earn double Aeroplan points on Air Canada flights between January 13, 2023 and December 15, 2023.

All fares except for Economy (Basic) fares are eligible for double Aeroplan points, and you stand to earn more points if you book a higher fare. The bonus will give you anywhere from 50–300% total Aeroplan points, which is based on the original fare class booked.

For example, Economy (Flex) fares have a regular accumulation rate of 100% Aeroplan points. If you were to book a round-trip flight from Toronto to London Heathrow, you’d usually earn 7,112 Aeroplan points, since the total distance flown is 7,112 miles.

With this promotion, you’d earn a total of 14,224 Aeroplan points for the same flights with an Economy (Flex) fare: 7,112 from the base accumulation, and another 7,112 with the 100% promotional bonus, for a total of 200%.

If you were to book in different fare classes, your total bonus would differ, since Air Canada’s fares come with different base Aeroplan accumulation rates:

  • Economy (Standard) fares have a 50% base accumulation, and with the 100% bonus, you’d earn 7,112 Aeroplan points (100% total).
  • Economy (Latitude) fares have a 125% base accumulation, and with the 100% bonus, you’d earn 17,780 Aeroplan points (250% total).
  • Premium Economy (Lowest & Flexible) fares have a 125% base accumulation, and with the 100% bonus, you’d earn 17,780 Aeroplan points (250% total).
  • Business Class (Lowest & Flexible) fares have a 150% base accumulation, and with the 100% bonus, you’d earn 21,336 Aeroplan points (300% total).

How to Choose the Right Air Canada Fare

The bonus Aeroplan points won’t count as Status Qualifying Miles; however, they will count towards your 2023 Everyday Status Qualification.

Of course, if you pay for your flight with an Aeroplan co-branded credit card, you’ll earn up to three Aeroplan points per dollar spent.

While this isn’t necessarily the most exciting promotion we’ve seen from Air Canada, if you have some paid flights to book for 2023, you may as well earn twice as many points as you otherwise would have.

Discounted Air Canada Flights in 2023

Air Canada has launched a temporary sale on flights throughout its network for most of 2023. The sale extends to any flight operated by Air Canada to all destinations the airline flies to, for travel between January 13, 2023 and December 15, 2023.

Bookings must be made by January 10, 2023 at 11:59pm at the city of departure on the booking.

Discounts apply on most Economy, Premium Economy, and Business Class fares booked directly on Air Canada’s website. Aside from flights with Air Canada, only codeshare flights to the United States operated by United Airlines are eligible for the discounted fares – all other codeshare flights are excluded.

On the sale’s landing page, Air Canada lists sample prices to destinations throughout its network, along with dates that have the listed price.

You’ll find prices listed for flights within Canada:

To the United States:

As well as to Sun and international destinations:

Whether or not these are great deals isn’t clear, as there isn’t a specified discount on the base fare. Rather, you’ll want to compare these prices with other airlines to make sure you’re actually getting a good deal.

Google Flights is the easiest tool to use for comparing costs, as you can easily search multiple airlines across many dates.

Conclusion

Air Canada’s latest promotion, “The World Is Big and So Is Our Sale”, offers double Aeroplan points on Air Canada flights for most of 2023. You’ll need to register for the promotion and book before January 10, 2023 at 11:59pm Pacific time to qualify.

If you have any paid flights planned for Air Canada this year, you may as well earn double Aeroplan points through this promotion. You may also find a good price on flights, but you’ll want to compare the cost of Air Canada flights with other options to make sure you’re getting a great deal.

Hopefully, this is just the first of many promotions we’ll see from Air Canada this year.
