Earn Up to 7,000 Aeroplan Points by Paying Taxes with Chexy

I've always been on the lookout for clever ways to maximize my points, especially on those big, unavoidable expenses. That's why Chexy has always caught my eye. It's a platform that allows you to pay bills, rent, and even taxes with your credit card, earning valuable rewards along the way.
Now, Chexy has launched a fantastic new promotion for income tax payments, specifically for new users. You can earn an additional 2,000 Aeroplan points when paying your taxes, which stacks with their existing new user offer. This means new users can rake in up to 7,000 Aeroplan points in total.
With tax season upon us, this is a perfect opportunity to make those CRA payments work a little harder for you.
Chexy Income Tax Promotion Details
This limited-time offer from Chexy lets new users earn 2,000 Aeroplan points by completing $10,000 or more in tax payments. This applies to payments made to both the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and Revenu Québec.
The promotion runs until April 30, 2026, giving you ample time to take advantage. It's available for both consumers and businesses, so if you have a larger tax bill on the business side, even better.
Stack It with the Existing Chexy x Aeroplan Offer
What really caught my eye is that this new income tax promotion is stackable with Chexy's ongoing Aeroplan partnership offer for new users, which provides up to 5,000 Aeroplan points.
Combined, new Chexy users can earn a total of 7,000 Aeroplan points through these two offers. That's a significant boost to your Aeroplan balance from a single tax payment.

Even More Points with American Express
Here's where it gets even better. Chexy also has a separate promotion for American Express cardholders that offers up to 6,000 bonus points when you use an eligible Amex card on the platform.
This means if you're a new Chexy user paying taxes with an eligible American Express card, you could stack all three offers:
- 6,000 points from the Chexy x Amex promotion
- 5,000 Aeroplan points from the Chexy new user offer
- 2,000 Aeroplan points from the income tax promotion
That's up to 13,000 bonus points before even counting what your credit card earns on the transaction itself. Business owners can check out the Chexy x Amex Business offer as well.

This is also a great excuse to put some spend on your Amex Platinum cards. If you spend $20,000 on your Platinum card this year, you'll unlock unlimited Plaza Premium and Priority Pass lounge access for 2027. A $10,000 tax payment through Chexy gets you halfway there in one shot.
A Great Way to Hit Your Welcome Bonus
If you've recently opened a new credit card or you're in the market for one, this promotion is especially worth paying attention to. A tax payment of $10,000 or more can go a long way toward meeting a welcome bonus minimum spend requirement.
Rather than scrambling to hit a spending threshold through everyday purchases, a single tax payment through Chexy can get you there, all while earning bonus Aeroplan points on top. It's one of the most efficient ways to knock out a welcome bonus and earn extra rewards at the same time.
The Math: Maximizing Your Earnings
Here is what makes this particularly compelling. You're looking at multiple layers of rewards stacking on a single payment.
Let's run the numbers. Say you pay $10,000 in taxes using a premium Aeroplan credit card that earns 1.25 Aeroplan points per dollar:
- 12,500 Aeroplan points from your credit card (1.25x on $10,000)
- 2,000 Aeroplan points from the Chexy income tax promotion
- 5,000 Aeroplan points from the standard Chexy new user offer
That's a total of 19,500 Aeroplan points. Based on our valuation of 2.1 cents per Aeroplan point, these points are worth approximately $409. The 1.75% processing fee on $10,000 comes to $175, leaving you with a net value of roughly $234 in points.
And if you're using an eligible Amex card, you can add up to 6,000 bonus points from the Amex promotion on top of that. If you're exploring your options, check out our credit card comparison tool or our roundup of the best American Express cards.
How Chexy Tax Payments Work
Chexy makes it straightforward to pay your taxes with a credit card. Chexy charges your card, holds the funds in your Chexy Wallet, and then pays the CRA or Revenu Québec via Bill Pay within three business days. Your SIN is encrypted and deleted after the payment is processed.
The processing fee is 1.75% for Canadian Visa and American Express cards, which remains the lowest among bill payment platforms in Canada. For a full breakdown of the platform, check out our detailed Chexy guide.

Caveats to Keep in Mind
There are a couple of things to be aware of. Both the 2,000-point tax bonus and the 5,000-point new user offer are exclusively for new Chexy customers. If you already have a Chexy account, you unfortunately won't be eligible for these promotional bonuses.
It's also worth noting that Chexy still does not accept Mastercard for Canadian-issued cards. You'll need a Visa or American Express card to use the platform. International Mastercard, Visa, and Amex cards are accepted, but at a higher 2.5% processing fee.
Conclusion
I personally use Chexy and it's been a great platform for earning points on expenses I'd be paying anyway. This new income tax promotion makes it an even more compelling option, especially for new users looking to boost their Aeroplan balance this tax season.
Earning up to 13,000 bonus points across the three promotions, on top of your regular credit card rewards, is hard to pass up. The offer runs until April 30, 2026, so there's still plenty of time before the tax deadline.
My honest take: if you've been on the fence about trying Chexy, this tax season is the time to do it.
