The United® MileagePlus® Neo World Elite® Mastercard is launching with a welcome offer of up to 25,000 MileagePlus miles, broken down as follows:

Earn 5,000 MileagePlus miles upon card activation and your first transaction
Earn an additional 15,000 MileagePlus miles upon spending $3,000 in net purchases within the first three months
Earn a 5,000-mile Renewal Bonus each year your account remains open and active with eligible spend in the prior 365 days

The card carries an annual fee of $89, which is among the lowest of any premium airline co-brand card in Canada.

At our typical valuation of 1.6 cents per MileagePlus mile, the 20,000-mile upfront welcome offer is worth around $320 in the first year, with an additional 5,000 miles worth around $80 awarded on each subsequent renewal. That puts the first-year return comfortably ahead of the annual fee, even before you account for the card's perks and benefits.

Earning Rewards

Cardholders earn MileagePlus miles on every eligible purchase, with no caps on any category. The earning structure is as follows:

Earn 1.25 miles per dollar on United Airlines and Star Alliance partner flights
Earn 1 mile per dollar on dining and groceries
Earn 0.75 miles per dollar on all other eligible purchases

Miles are calculated monthly and credited to your United MileagePlus account. If you don't have a MileagePlus account, one will be created for you during the application process.

On top of the base earn rates, cardholders also unlock access to Neo's merchant partner network of 10,000+ brands, which offers bonus MileagePlus miles on select purchases. These offers are surfaced directly in the Neo app and stack on top of the card's base earning.

Redeeming Rewards

MileagePlus miles can be redeemed for flights on United Airlines and its 25+ Star Alliance partners, including Air Canada, Lufthansa, ANA, Singapore Airlines, and Turkish Airlines. Miles can also be redeemed for flight upgrades, hotels, car rentals, and other MileagePlus partner products.

As a cardholder, you'll automatically get at least 10% off United award flights (15% off with Premier Status), which means you use fewer miles for the same trip. You'll also unlock exclusive cardholder Saver Award availability, which can include premium cabin seats like Polaris® business class that aren't always visible to non-cardholders.

MileagePlus miles don't expire as long as your account remains active, giving you time to pool them for bigger redemptions like international business class.

The United® MileagePlus® Neo World Elite® Mastercard comes packed with travel perks designed to improve every United trip:

Free first checked bag on United-operated flights for the primary cardholder and travel companions on the same reservation
Priority boarding in Group 2 on United-operated flights, for the primary cardholder and travel companions
NEXUS application fee credit of up to $120 USD, reimbursed once every five years toward a new NEXUS application or renewal

Beyond the United-specific perks, the card also carries the full suite of World Elite Mastercard benefits, including Mastercard Zero Liability and Mastercard Global Service.

Cardholders receive a complimentary Mastercard Travel Pass membership, powered by DragonPass, which provides access to 1,400+ airport lounges worldwide. Each lounge visit is charged at a per-visit rate.

One notable feature unique to Neo is the availability of a secured version of the card. With a security deposit, applicants who don't yet qualify for the unsecured card get the same earn rates, the same travel perks, and full MileagePlus access – making it a rare option for Canadians who want to start earning airline miles while building their credit. It's a feature we haven't seen offered on any other premium airline co-brand card in Canada.

The United® MileagePlus® Neo World Elite® Mastercard comes with emergency medical insurance underwritten by Chubb Insurance Company of Canada. Coverage highlights include:\r\n

Up to $1,000,000 CAD in out-of-province/out-of-country emergency medical coverage
Coverage for up to 14 days per trip
Covers the cardholder, spouse, and dependent children travelling together
Underwritten by Chubb

\r\nA 180-day medical stability period applies for pre-existing conditions. The card must be used to charge at least a portion of the trip in order to activate coverage. Travel insurance benefits are not available to residents of Quebec due to regulatory restrictions.
