The Rogers Connections Mastercard is a good choice for anyone who’s entrenched in the Rogers ecosystem. Consider this card as a backup for anywhere that doesn’t accept American Express.
Bonuses & Fees
As a welcome bonus, this card offers 10% cash back in the first three months, up to $100 total cash back on $1,000 of spending.
This card doesn’t have an annual fee.
Earning Rewards
The Rogers Connections Mastercard has a rewards structure that depends on your level of engagement with Rogers.
Eligible Rogers customers will earn 2% cash back on all purchases.
In order to qualify for the 2% cash back as an eligible Rogers customer, you’ll need to have a combination of at least one Rogers wireless phone service and at least one Rogers internet, TV, home phone, or home monitoring service.
Otherwise, cardholders earn 2% cash back on all purchases in US dollars, and 1% cash back on everything else. It’s important to note that the card has a 2.5% foreign transaction fee, so you may want to consider a no foreign transaction fee card outside of Canada instead.
Redeeming Rewards
Cash back can be redeemed in the mobile app, for a minimum of $10 at a time. You can redeem against past or future purchases.
The cash back earned on the card can be used to offset any purchase; however, if you want more bang for your buck, you can use the cash back to pay for a Rogers bill and get 30% more value.
That means you’ll get $1.30 (CAD) for every cash back dollar applied towards your Rogers bill or on phone and accessory purchases.
Perks & Benefits
Aside from cash back, the Rogers Connections Mastercard provides cardholders with five free Roam Like Home days each year, which is worth up to $75 (CAD).
This feature lets Rogers subscribers use their mobile plan’s call, text, and data allocations in 185 destinations abroad and be charged only a flat daily fee of $12 (CAD) in the US or $15 (CAD) globally.
Insurance Coverage
The Rogers Connections Mastercard doesn’t have a strong suite of insurance.
Cardholders enjoy transaction monitoring and alerts, as well as zero liability for unauthorized use.
