Video: Credit Card Rules That You Need to Know

You may have heard about the “5/24 Rule” in the US, but what issuer-specific credit card application rules are there in Canada?

In this video, we’ll go over all of the rules you need to know among the major Canadian credit card issuers, whether it’s TD or HSBC’s rules on how frequently you can get the bonus on a given card, to RBC or MBNA’s informal but time-tested criteria on how often they’ll approve you for a new card.

We’ll also touch upon the infamous “once-in-a-lifetime” rule by American Express and other issuers, as well as draw the distinction between rules that are strictly enforced and rules that are merely written in the terms and conditions.

Without further ado, you can watch the video below:

Hey Ricky! Love the content just one quick question. If I sign up for the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite Privilege* Card and use it, then downgrade to the TD® Aeroplan® Visa Platinum* Card or TD® Aeroplan® Visa Infinite* Card. And then upgrade back to the Infinite Privilege card, would I still be eligible for the signup bonus?

I cancelled my CIBC aeroplan in March this year, in your video, you said there was no rules for CIBC, so I can apply for it now to get the welcoming points?
