Aeroplan continues to add new partners to their redemption roster, and the list is truly becoming too long to name.

The latest partner is SunExpress, a low cost carrier based in Antalya, Türkiye, as a joint venture between Lufthansa Group and Turkish Airlines. This partnership will launch on next Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

Redeem Aeroplan Points on SunExpress

Like all previous partnerships, points redemptions on SunExpress will abide by the following principles:

  • SunExpress flights will be priced based on Aeroplan’s pricing for partner airlines.
  • Members will be able to book SunExpress flights online and over the phone.
  • SunExpress flights can be combined with flights operated by Air Canada and all other international airline partners.
  • There are no fuel surcharges, but a $39 partner booking fee will apply.

The partnership will officially launch as of next Tuesday, November 8.

Let’s take a look at the SunExpress route network using FlightConnections.

The range of destinations served by SunExpress is their greatest asset, and makes many leisure destinations in Türkiye much more accessible from North America without needing to connect in Istanbul.

For example, Bodrum, a popular destination on the Turkish Mediterranean coast, is possible to reach from many Canadian cities with one connection in Munich, but SunExpress opens up Bodrum to one-connection possibilities from a wide range of European entry ports.

SunExpress operates an all-economy fleet to mainly to various leisure destinations in Türkiye, but provide a wide range of connectivity all throughout the European continent.

As a reminder, here’s the Aeroplan Flight Reward Chart for intra-Atlantic Zone redemptions:

Aeroplan flight reward chart

Most routes to neighbouring countries falls under 1,000 miles in distance, thus costing 7,500 Aeroplan points one-way in economy class or 15,000 Aeroplan points one-way in business class.

Further destinations, such as London, will be between 1,001 and 2,000 miles in distance and will cost 12,500 Aeroplan points one-way in economy class. Keep in mind you can also have a stopover anywhere in Europe for 5,000 points before continuing on SunExpress.

And if you included a SunExpress flight as part of the larger flight redemption from North America to Europe, you’d likely pay between 35,000–55,000 Aeroplan points one-way in economy class or 60,000–85,000 Aeroplan points one-way in business class, depending on the overall distance traversed.

Another New Partner to Come

Air Canada has also announced another yet partner to come next week. They have provided hints as follows:

They serve a particular, amazing aspirational destination and are the only one serving it on a scheduled basis with jet aircraft. In fact, the aircraft they use on this route is a fleet type they added specifically to serve this market!

Our guess is Air Greenland, who have Airbus A330s to serve Copenhagen, while Icelandair is the only other airline that flies to the region using a turboprop.

Conclusion

Aeroplan will be adding SunExpress as one of their 45+ airline partners next Tuesday, November 8, 2022.

SunExpress will serve major leisure destinations within Europe and will provide reliable one-stop connectivity from North America to summer vacation spots in Türkiye and beyond aboard their all-economy fleet.

Aeroplan has also teased another exciting new partner to launch next week, serving an aspirational destination, and our guess is Air Greenland.
