Scene+ Is Now Live at Shell Locations across Alberta

Back in January, we covered the news that Shell Canada would be partnering with Scene+, replacing its decades-long relationship with AIR MILES. At the time, we walked through the earn rates, redemption structure, and which credit cards to consider.
Well, as of March 3, 2026, the partnership is officially live in Alberta. Albertans can now earn and redeem Scene+ points at participating Shell stations across the province.
Here’s what you need to know now that the rubber has hit the road.
What’s Now Available in Alberta
The core earn structure is exactly what was announced in January. You’ll earn 1 Scene+ point per litre on all grades of fuel and 1 Scene+ point per $1 spent on car washes and eligible convenience items, just by scanning your Scene+ card.
Members who link their Scene+ account to Shell Go+ unlock bonus earning on top of that: 10% more bonus Scene+ points on regular fuel, diesel, and convenience purchases, and 2x more bonus Scene+ points on Shell V-Power.
Redemptions follow the standard Scene+ structure. You can redeem 1,000 Scene+ points for $10 off fuel, car washes, or eligible convenience items, applied instantly at the pump or in-store.
Scotiabank and Tangerine Savings: The Numbers Are In
This is the part many of us were waiting for. When we wrote the original article, the exact cents-per-litre savings from Scotiabank and Tangerine hadn’t been published yet. Now they have.
Here’s how the savings stack up with an eligible Scotiabank card linked to Shell Go+:
- 3¢ per litre instant savings on all grades of Shell fuel when you pay with an eligible linked Scotiabank debit or credit card
- Additional 4¢ per litre instant savings on Shell V-Power fuel with a linked Scotiabank credit card that earns Scene+ points
- Up to 3¢ per litre equivalent in redeemable Scene+ point value on Shell V-Power fuel with a linked Scotiabank Scene+ credit card
That adds up to a headline figure of up to 10¢ per litre in total value on V-Power, combining instant savings, credit card earning, and Scene+ points.
For Tangerine cardholders, the current setup looks like this:
- 3¢ per litre instant savings on all grades of Shell fuel when you pay with any linked Tangerine credit card
- Up to 3¢ per litre in cash back on all grades of fuel when you pay with your linked card and have “fuel” selected as a 2% cash back category
- Up to 2¢ per litre equivalent in redeemable Scene+ point value on Shell V-Power when your Scene+ account is linked to Shell Go+
That gives Tangerine cardholders up to 8¢ per litre in total value today. It’s worth noting that Tangerine has announced a new rewards credit card powered by Scene+ coming in spring 2026, which will push the total up to 10¢ per litre as well.
CAA Stacking Still Works
Good news for AMA members in Alberta (and CAA members nationally once the program rolls out): the existing 3¢ per litre everyday savings offer from CAA can be stacked with Scene+ earning, Shell Go+ bonuses, and Scotiabank or Tangerine instant savings in a single transaction.
That’s a lot of layers working together from one tap at the pump.
How to Get Set Up
If you’re in Alberta and want to start earning right away, the process is straightforward.
You’ll need the updated Shell Go+ app, which became available on March 3. From there, link your Scene+ account and your eligible Scotiabank or Tangerine payment card inside the app.
Once everything is linked, you’ll get the instant savings and single-tap earning and payment experience automatically. If you don’t use the app, you can still earn Scene+ points by scanning your physical Scene+ card at the pump or in-store—you just won’t unlock the bank card savings or Shell Go+ bonuses.
What about AIR MILES?
AIR MILES earning and redemption at Shell in Alberta ended on March 2, 2026. If you’re in the rest of Canada, you can continue to use AIR MILES at Shell through May 25, 2026, with Scene+ taking over on May 26, 2026.
There’s no conversion of AIR MILES into Scene+ points. Your AIR MILES balance stays in the AIR MILES ecosystem and will eventually transition into BMO’s Blue Rewards program on a one-to-one basis later this year.
Conclusion
The Scene+–Shell partnership is no longer theoretical. It’s live, it’s working, and Albertans are the first to test it out before the national rollout on May 26, 2026.
With the specific Scotiabank and Tangerine savings now confirmed, the value proposition is clearer than it was in January. Up to 10¢ per litre in total value is competitive, especially when you factor in CAA stacking and the double-dip potential of a Scene+-earning credit card on top of the base loyalty earn.
If you’re in Alberta, it’s worth downloading the Shell Go+ app and linking your accounts now so your fuel purchases start pulling their weight in your points strategy.
