Porter Airlines to Be Launch Carrier at New Montréal Metropolitan Airport

Porter Airlines is about to give Montréal a second commercial airport option. The airline will be the launch carrier at the newly revitalized Montréal Metropolitan Airport (MET), with service beginning on June 15, 2026.
Located in Longueuil on Montréal's South Shore, MET was formerly known as Saint-Hubert Airport (YHU). It's a more convenient option for more than half of the greater Montréal population, with easy access to downtown and the city's central neighbourhoods.

A full cross-country network is launching from MET, with 12 nonstop routes rolling out within the first week of operations.

The full route list:

About Montréal Metropolitan Airport
MET has a fascinating backstory. Originally opened in 1927, Saint-Hubert Airport is actually Canada's oldest airport. It served as Montréal's main commercial airport until flights moved to Dorval (now Trudeau) in 1940.

A brand-new terminal spans 21,000 square metres and features nine boarding bridges and a spacious waiting lounge with 900 seats. The design maximizes natural light and includes contemporary nods to the historic visit of the R-100 airship in 1930, when its arrival in Saint-Hubert drew massive crowds.
Construction began in August 2023 by PCL Construction and was completed in under three years. YHU Infrastructure Partners, a partnership between Porter Aviation Holdings and Macquarie Asset Management, developed and operates the terminal.

Getting there is easy. The METbus (RTL route 428) is an express shuttle connecting the Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke métro station directly to the terminal. From there, take the Yellow line to Berri-UQAM and connect to the rest of Montréal's métro network. By car, it's roughly a 30-minute drive from downtown, and rentals are available on-site through Enterprise, Alamo, and National.
MET is a domestic-only airport, so there's no customs pre-clearance or duty-free shopping. There are no private lounges, though the open-concept departure lounge is designed to be comfortable for all passengers.
For dining, you'll find a Bâton Rouge and a Café Dépôt inside the terminal.
One important caveat: there are no connections between MET and Montréal-Trudeau (YUL). The two airports are in different parts of the city, so book all your flights from the same one.
A Major Capacity Boost for Montréal
MET's opening represents a 91% expansion of Porter's peak summer capacity in the Montréal region. Combined with its continuing operations at Montréal-Trudeau (YUL), Porter will operate up to 244 weekly departures from the city: 138 from MET and 106 from YUL.
Both the 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 and the 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 will serve MET. True to Porter's brand, there are no middle seats on any flight.
Porter has also partnered with regional airline Pascan, which is based at MET. Passengers can purchase a single ticket that includes flights on both airlines, with seamless baggage connections. It's a useful option for travellers heading to Québec's regions and the Maritimes.
Earning and Redeeming Points at MET
If you're a VIPorter member, these new routes mean more opportunities to earn and redeem points across a much wider domestic network. Holding a BMO VIPorter World Elite®* Mastercard®* makes the value proposition even stronger.
These MET routes are also bookable with Atmos Rewards, which opens up another redemption avenue. For guidance on picking the right fare class, check out our guide to Porter Airlines fares.
Conclusion
If you live on Montréal's South Shore or anywhere in the Montérégie region, MET is about to save you a trip across the river to Trudeau. Even for downtown residents, a compact nine-gate terminal with no middle seats and a 30-minute drive is worth considering over the YUL experience.
