Aeroplan Partners with airBaltic

Aeroplan has announced a new airline partner: airBaltic. As of today, you can redeem Aeroplan points on airBaltic-operated flights, unlocking access to more than 80 destinations across Europe and neighbouring regions.

While this isn’t a full earn-and-burn partnership just yet, it’s a meaningful step for Aeroplan members who regularly use points to get around Europe , especially beyond the usual mega-hubs.

What’s Included in the Partnership

With this launch, Aeroplan members can redeem points on airBaltic flights through aircanada.com, the Air Canada mobile app, or Aeroplan’s Contact Centre.

These redemptions can be booked as standalone flights or combined with Air Canada and other Aeroplan partner airlines on the same itinerary. As expected, the standard Aeroplan partner booking fee applies when airBaltic is included.

At this stage, earning Aeroplan points on paid airBaltic flights is not available, making this a redemption-only partnership for now.

A Natural Next Step After the 2024 Codeshare

This announcement builds on the Air Canada–airBaltic codeshare agreement introduced in 2024, which focused on expanding paid connectivity between Canada and Northern Europe.

The difference now is usability. Instead of simply smoothing out ticketing on cash fares, Aeroplan members can finally use points to fly airBaltic-operated segments, which is where the real value starts to show up.

Why airBaltic Is Worth Paying Attention To

airBaltic is a bit of an outlier in Europe, and in a good way. The Latvian airline operates an all–Airbus A220-300 fleet, making it the first airline in the world to commit entirely to the aircraft.

For passengers, that usually translates to a more comfortable short- and medium-haul experience, with wider seats, larger windows, and quieter cabins than what you’d find on older Airbus or Boeing narrowbodies.

In 2025, airBaltic also became the first European airline to roll out free high-speed Starlink internet, which is a notable perk if you value staying connected once the wheels are up.

Where airBaltic Fits into Aeroplan Redemptions

airBaltic’s network is centred around hubs in Riga (RIX), Tallinn (TLL), and Vilnius (VNO), with routes spanning Western Europe, the Nordics, Southern Europe, and parts of the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus.

For Aeroplan members, this is less about flashy long-haul redemptions and more about solving the last-mile problem in Europe.

Secondary cities, seasonal routes, and awkward point-to-point itineraries are often where cash prices spike — and where partner redemptions can quietly offer solid value.

Paired with Aeroplan’s flexible routing rules, airBaltic flights could become particularly useful for multi-city trips or open-jaw itineraries that don’t naturally funnel through Europe’s biggest hubs.

Conclusion

airBaltic joining Aeroplan isn’t about aspirational cabins or flashy redemptions, but it’s a genuinely useful upgrade for anyone using points to get around Europe.

With solid regional coverage, a modern all–A220 fleet, and free high-speed Starlink internet onboard, this partnership adds flexibility where it’s often hardest to find, and that’s exactly the kind of improvement that makes a loyalty program better in practice, not just on paper.
