Hilton Honors often runs promotions for its members to earn more points and qualifying nights on stays, and it’s just announced its first promo for 2025.
The Double Your Stay promotion is now live, and just as the name suggests, you can earn double the base points per eligible stay from January 1 –April 30, 2025.
Hilton Honors 2025 Promotion: “Double Your Stay”
Hilton’s first promotion of 2025 is dubbed “Double Your stay”, and through the promo, Hilton Honors members can earn two-times the base points for eligible stays from January 1 –April 30, 2025.
You’ll first need to register for the promotion on the Hilton website and then you’ll earn double the base points on all stays during the promotion’s eligibility period.
There’s no limit as to how many points you can earn from stays, and all properties under the Hilton portfolio count.
As long as you’ve registered for the promotion, any stays booked before January 1 are still eligible for the bonus points as long as your check-out date falls between January 1-April 30, 2025.
With the new Double Your Stay promotion, Hilton Honors members can earn 10x bonus points per dollar spent, with no limit to how many bonus points you can earn. You’ll start earning rewards with the first stay, and there’s no minimum stay required.
How To Maximize the Hilton Honors “Double Your Stay”
If you have any stays planned with Hilton for the new year, you’ll want to make sure you’re maximizing your earnings, especially with the opportunity to earn double the points on all stays.
Plus, you can pad your balance further by maximizing your earn with the right credit card and status tiers.
For example, if you book at a Hilton property, for every US dollar you spend that earns base points, you can earn the following:
- 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member
- 10 bonus points from Double Your Stay promotion
- Bonus points for having Hilton Honors elite status:
- 2 points with Silver status, which you get with the Hilton Honors Card
- 8 points with Gold status, which you get with the Hilton Honors Surpass Card
- 10 points with Diamond status, which you get with the Hilton Honors Aspire Card
- Points earned for using your Hilton Honors credit card at an eligible property:
- 7 points for using the Hilton Honors Card
- 12 points for using the Hilton Honors Surpass Card or the Hilton Honors Business Card
- 14 points for using the Hilton Honors Aspire Card
That works out to up to 44 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent: 10 base points as a Hilton Honors member, 10 points with Hilton Diamond status, and 14 points by paying with an Aspire card. Plus, 10 bonus points with the Double Your Stay promotion.
At our current valuation of 0.5 cents per point (USD) or 0.7 cents per point (CAD), you could also view this as a minimum 22% return, which is a pretty great deal.
So for example, if someone stayed 1 night at a Hilton with a rate of $100 (USD) per night you would get the following:
- 1,000 Base points earned
- 1,000 Bonus points earned
- 800 points earned for gold members/1,000 for diamond members
- Up to 1,400 points by paying with a co-branded credit card (for example the Hilton Aspire)
Of course, not everyone has the Aspire Card — even with annual credits, it’s a steep annual fee to swallow when you consider other premium cards on the market.
Alternatively, if you have a Canadian-issued American Express Platinum Card or Business Platinum Card from American Express, and a lower-tier American Express US Hilton credit card, you’ll earn the following:
- 10 base points per US dollar spent as a Hilton Honors member
- 10 bonus points per US dollar spent from Double Your Stay promotion points
- 8 bonus points for having Hilton Honors Gold status (which you get as an Amex Platinum cardholder)
- 12 points for using your Hilton Honors Surpass or Business Card at a co-branded property
A total of 40 Hilton Honors points per dollar spent is equivalent to a 20% return on your stays, and it’s almost the same rate as you’d get with the Aspire Card. Plus, you’ll still get bonus points from the Double Your Stay.
With returns of up to 22% or more via this promotion, this is a good opportunity to make a cash booking for an upcoming trip in the new year. You can then save the points you’ll earn for a future award redemption or for when the active promotions aren’t as favourable.
Saving your points would certainly be a better choice if you’re working towards an aspirational Hilton redemption with a high points cost, especially since Hilton Honors points aren’t as easy to come by as other hotel rewards from a Canadian perspective.
