Review: Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel

Here’s a review from a quick overnight at the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel, which is directly connected to the Montreal airport concourse.

I stayed at the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel upon flying into Montreal in advance of our Prince of Travel Signature Event a few weekends ago.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Booking

I decided to book a night here at the Marriott precisely because it was directly connected to the airport terminal.

I had a ton of luggage with me, and since I was arriving late at night, I just needed a place to crash before heading into town the following morning.

Given the convenience of being connected to the airport, room rates are priced at a premium, starting at around $250 for a standard room.

Meanwhile, a points redemption would cost in the region of 30,000 Bonvoy points. We currently value Bonvoy points at 0.9 cents apiece, so paying cash was marginally the better option.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Location

The hotel is situated at the far end of the airport terminal, closest to the US departures area.

Downtown Montreal is approximately a 20-minute drive from the hotel, or accessible via public transport through the 747 bus service, which brings you to Lionel-Groulx station on the Montreal Metro.

You’d most likely only choose to stay here if you had an overnight layover or an early-morning flight departing out of Montreal, so as the name suggests, it’s very much the hotel’s in-terminal location that serves as its greatest asset.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Check-in

The hotel has both an exterior and an interior entrance, the former allowing for car drop-offs and the latter leading into the airport concourse.

Escalators and elevators lead up to the check-in area, which means you can bring your luggage carts up to the lobby if you need to.

A friendly associate welcomed me and confirmed my one-night stay, offering me the keys to my suite on the seventh floor.

The associate was also more than happy to store a couple of pieces of luggage that I didn’t need for the evening, taking my entire luggage cart and placing it behind the desk.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Larger Suite

I was assigned Room 742, a larger suite than the guest rooms that are shown on the hotel website. The space was certainly more than what I needed for the evening, but I very much appreciated the extra square footage.

As you enter the room, you’ll encounter the foyer with a pantry on the left side stocked with coffee and tea. The foyer then opens up to a sleeping and work/lounge area, separated by a wall.

The room featured soundproof floor-to-ceiling windows to cancel airport noise, overlooking the parking lot and the runways in the distance.

The contemporary colour palette includes light greys, beiges, and soft blues, with dark wooden furnishings.

I appreciated the separate workspace and desk, and found the chair to be ergonomic and comfortable.

The room layout also featured three additional chairs facing the work desk and chair, which didn’t make much sense to me – but it wasn’t necessarily important here at a fly-by-night airport hotel.

A sitting area with a small couch is situated at the opposite end of this room.

The bedroom was minimalistic, with just a TV opposite the bed and some artwork on the wall. The bedside tables feature an alarm clock with built-in Bluetooth speakers and USB outlets for convenient charging.

The beds at the Montreal Airport Marriott are fitted with Revive Collection bedding, which I found to be quite comfortable during my quick overnight.

The bathroom in this suite has quite a bit of floor space, featuring a shower/bathtub combo, a vanity with a single sink and an LED mirror, and the toilet.

I found the suite to be more than serviceable for my needs, which were simply to have a comfortable place to crash for the night on a late arrival into town.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Executive Lounge

As a Marriott Titanium Elite member with Marriott, I was able to take advantage of the executive lounge located on the 10th floor. The lounge has tarmac views over the airport tarmac and a variety of seating inside.

Upon entering, an associate greets you and checks your room number. The lounge offers all-day refreshments, with breakfast being served in the morning.

Breakfast was a very simple affair, with one hot item, a few cold items, some fruits and pastries, and a selection of coffee: drip, cappuccino, and latte.

The selection was quite limited, and I was disappointed that the sole hot breakfast item was scrambled eggs with mushrooms, which I don’t eat.

Still, it was better than nothing, and I snacked on some cold plates and petites viennoiseries before carrying on with my day.

Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel – Other Facilities

Many hotels offer amenities and services on a multi-level property, while the Montreal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel has them stretched out over the same floor.

The Bijou Restaurant & Bar, reception, lobby, meeting rooms, and conference spaces can all be found on the 4th floor.

Meanwhile, the swimming pool and fitness centre are located on the 8th floor. The pool and hot tub in particular looked pretty well-appointed for an airport hotel, which is a place that people don’t typically come to spend too much time at the pool.

The hotel’s fitness centre is open 24 hours and offers a range of exercise equipment, such as cardio machines, free weights, and strength equipment.

Again, I found that the facility is quite nice for an airport hotel, with the treadmills offering a very nice view of the airport runways.

If you encounter a series of delayed flights during a Montreal winter storm, you’ll at least have some nice amenities to enjoy at the Marriott In-Terminal Hotel next door.

Conclusion

This in-terminal Marriott is a well-rounded property with modern interiors and comfortable beds for those whose journeys pass through Montreal International Airport.

The hotel’s greatest asset is its prime in-terminal location, which served me well on a late-night arrival when I had lots of luggage with me, as I could simply wheel my luggage cart straight to the hotel lobby and have it stored overnight.

In addition, the hotel offers a variety of amenities for all types of travellers, such as a pool and hot tub for those looking to unwind and an intimate executive lounge for elite members’ enjoyment.

Heading out in the morning after a quick overnight stay, I reflected on a charming stay at the Marriott YUL, and I’ll probably be back again in the future for the convenience factor alone.
