Oxford Properties Amex Offer: Spend $400, Get $40

American Express and Oxford Properties are back with another Amex Offer, and this time, there’s a new twist on a concept that we’ve seen from them before.

You’ll earn a $40 (CAD) statement credit when you spend $400+ (CAD) on Oxford Properties gift cards, whether purchased at an Oxford Properties guest service location or online.

This has been one of the easiest Amex Offers to maximize over the past few years, offering a nice discount of up to 10% on upcoming shopping, hotel stays, or even flight bookings.

Oxford Properties Gift Cards: Spend $400, Get $40

Oxford Properties is a Canadian property management company with a diversified set of holdings nationwide. The company also sells the Oxford Gift Card Plus gift card at oxfordgiftcardplus.ca, which can be redeemed across eligible Oxford Properties retail and travel businesses.

As part of this Amex Offer, you’ll earn a one-time $40 (CAD) statement credit upon making $400 (CAD) in qualifying gift card purchases at participating Oxford Properties guest service desks in Canada or online through oxfordgiftcardplus.ca.

The offer ends on March 9, 2023, so you’ll need to make an eligible purchase of at least $400 (CAD) before then. Make sure to register for the offer sooner rather than later to secure your eligibility, as there is a limited registration cap of 15,000 cardholders.

There’s no requirement to meet the $400 (CAD) minimum in a single purchase, as the offer also works on cumulative purchases that total $400 (CAD) or more. However, it’s generally easiest to purchase a $400 (CAD) gift card online to complete the offer conditions as smoothly as possible.

We’ve seen this Amex Offer available on a wide range of American Express products, such as the Business Platinum Card, Aeroplan Reserve Card, and more.

Specific Amex Offers generally appear on one card per account, so if you have multiple Amex cardholders in your household, be sure to check each one to see if the offer pops up and register accordingly.

Save 10% on Select Shopping, Hotel Stays, or Flights

By purchasing and redeeming a $400 (CAD) Oxford Properties gift card and earning a $40 (CAD) statement credit, you’ll be unlocking an effective 10% discount on whatever purchase you eventually use the gift card for.

Oxford Properties gift cards can be used at over a dozen shopping malls and retail centres across Canada in Ontario, Quebec, Alberta, and British Columbia:

  • Yorkdale Mall (Toronto, ON)
  • Square One Shopping Centre (Mississauga, ON)
  • Scarborough Town Centre (Scarborough, ON)
  • Hillcrest Mall (Richmond Hill, ON)
  • Upper Canada Mall (Newmarket, ON)
  • WaterPark Place (Toronto, ON)
  • Richmond–Adelaide Centre (Toronto, ON)
  • MetroCentre (Toronto, ON)
  • Prominades Gatineau (Gatineau, QC)
  • Quartier Dix30 (Brossard, QC)
  • Galeries de la Capitale (Quebec City, QC)
  • Southcentre Mall (Calgary, AB)
  • Kingsway Mall (Edmonton, AB)
  • Bow Valley Square (Calgary, AB)
  • Centennial Place (Calgary, AB)
  • Oxford Place (Vancouver, BC)
  • MNP Tower (Vancouver, BC)

Additionally, gift cards can be used for select Oxford Properties hotel stays across Alberta, British Columbia, and Toronto, which may be of interest to travellers considering a stay at one of these properties over the coming period.

Eligible properties include Fairmont hotels in Banff, Jasper, Lake Louise, and Whistler, the Intercontinental Toronto Centre, and Park Hyatt Toronto.

If you’re planning to stay at one of these hotels, the 10% discount via the Oxford Properties gift card can also stack with other ongoing deals, such as the Fairmont Amex Offer, which can also be redeemed simultaneously at one of the Fairmont properties for a stay of $750+ (CAD).

Hotels for Redeeming Oxford Properties Gift Cards

Moreover, Oxford Properties gift cards can also be used with Porter Airlines, so travellers who are planning trips this summer to destinations across Canada and US could save up to 10% on Porter flights.

If you plan on flying with Porter, staying at one of the Fairmonts in Western Canada or the two Downtown Toronto properties, or shopping at any of the Oxford Properties retail centres on the list, then it’s a no-brainer to register for the offer, purchase a $400 (CAD) online gift card, and save $40 (CAD).

However, even if you can’t see yourself using the gift card at all (say, you live outside of one of the provinces with Oxford Properties locations and don’t plan on redeeming the gift card for eligible travel), it can still make sense to use the Amex Offer to buy a gift card.

That’s because your $400 (CAD) Oxford Properties gift card still has a value close, if not equal, to $400 (CAD), for which you’ll only have paid $360 (CAD).

You could sell the $400 (CAD) gift card onwards to another buyer, potentially at a slight discount, and still come out ahead thanks to the $40 (CAD) statement credit.

Scotiabank American Express Cardholders Can Register Too

As we’ve seen with many recent Amex Offers, primary and supplementary cardholders of the Scotiabank American Express products can also register and take advantage of the promotion.

Eligible cards include the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card, Scotiabank American Express Card, and Scotiabank Platinum American Express Card.

The registration portal is accessible via this link.

No matter whether you plan on using or reselling your Oxford Properties gift card, you can register for this Amex Offer on both your Amex- and Scotiabank-issued Amex products to maximize your earnings.

Conclusion

With this Amex Offer, eligible cardholders can earn a $40 (CAD) statement credit upon spending a minimum of $400 (CAD) on gift card purchases at Oxford Properties in Canada or online through oxfordgiftcardplus.ca.

Oxford Properties gift cards can be used to save up to 10% at eligible shopping locations, hotels, or Porter Airlines flights, so there’s a fairly wide range of uses for your discounted gift card.

Keep in mind that the registration cap is limited to the first 15,000 cardholders, so be sure to hit “Register” and then purchase your Oxford Properties gift card as soon as possible, and by March 9, 2023 at the latest.

This is a great deal. I have used the previous Oxford promotion cards for simple purchases such as Dollerama up to more expensive xmas presents. The only consideration is that these gift cards are subject to fees if you don’t use them in the timeframe. Just keep track of how long you have held on to them.

A saving is a saving for sure, but all previous offers were $70 credit for a $350 purchase. The good old pandemic days.

Last summer I took advantage of the Oxford Amex promo COMBINED with their own promo of giving out 5% more when you purchased a gift card. I made a purchase at Cartier at Yorkdale and trust me, Cartier never goes on sale! I might hold off on this one and see if there is another 5% offer when buying the gift cards.

With the Oxford gift card, do you know if I’d be able to go to Shoppers Drug Mart and purchase other retailer gift cards with it?
Also, would I be able to use it at a restaurant at the Park Hyatt or Intercontinental in Toronto?
    Thx

If the shoppers accepts it, I don’t see why not. Restaurants should also be fine.

    Hi Ricky,

Just purchased some gift cards to be used at Oxfords’ malls – good stuff!
Slightly off-topic: I have on my Canadian AMEX an offer to spend $500 CAD at http://www.united.com/en-ca/flights or the mobile app – and get $250 CAD statement credit.
If I have United’s bank – how do I monetize on this offer?
They say CAD – so I can’t just load that into my US-based United bank wallet.
Otherwise, is there a refundable WORKING option for that?
    Thanks.

Would this purchase (and Aeroplan points earned) count towards the current Aeroplan elite status promotion, through which status is extended if you earn 30,000 points through spending on Aeroplan credit cards?

    1. Rachel YYZ

      Of course!

Where these gift cards can actually be used is unclear, at least to me. The website link in the above article and the AMEX offer Ts&Cs do not provide details. In addition, the AMEX MR site for Oxford gift cards lists locations that differ compared to the article. For example the hotel properties are: “Intercontinental Toronto Centre, The Fairmont Banff Springs, The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, The Fairmont Chateau Whistler, Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello, The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, The Fairmont Vancouver Airport”. There is no mention of Park Hyatt Toronto, for example.

How does stacking work? Lets say I want to stay at the Fairmont Banff. I either buy a gift card and get $70 or I pay at the hotel and get $70. Do you mean I can stack by spending 350 on a gift card and another 350 directly with the hotel or is there a better way?

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes, you’d need a room charge of $700+ to make use of both 20% discounts, so the discounts would be additive not multiplicative in this case. Updated the article for precision.

This could be too good to be true – but I have a Scotia Amex gold and a supplementary card. I was able to addd BOTH CARDS to the offer. Will I be able to get this deal twice?

    1. Ricky YVR

Yes. Might be time to get more supplementary cards 😉
